My old Osrams were working fine but I wanted to see if the difference was noticeable and after borrowing my dads new car with xeon lights I felt like driving with candles. The difference was actually very noticeable. They were a lot brighter and whiter. I then removed the Philips and tested with brand new Osrams. They were a dull yellow compared to the Philips. I felt the almost double price was well worth it. However I am concerned about additional heat. The wattage is the same but they seem to run very hot. Next light project will be clear Golf 1 lenses and man-size wiring. And as it is a visible difference it's even wife-approved ;-)

But they seem to be ok as for now but I will check on them after running these Philips for a while. I am not sure how legal it is to retrofit clear lenses but theres a lot of new cars with clear lenses. And the aftermarket is full of them. Golf 1 headlamps fits the G. You can even go pimp and install clear lenses / chrome reflector. Or "Angel eyes" bimmer style. Theres also an abundance of xenon retrofits for Golf 1. These are however not street legal in Norway but that does not seem to a problem with the authorities in real life. I have considered a xenon kit but then I'd definitely need a original reflector. The retrofits I've seen are bright ok, but the beam is diffusing all over the place. Edited by Tjærand 10/24/2007 5:42 AM

The light pattern is different in xenons and they need purpose made reflectors/lamps. And when you ford water with xenons...

Use the original wires for control voltage to the relays. Johan-Kr
