The wife and I have a trip planned to Pittsburg this fall. The trip will be a total of 800+ miles. I am thinking that would be a good trip to check the CDI MPG on the open road with a minimum of city driving. The the wife puts her two cents in about how safe she feels in the Gwagen. The cost will be only $30-40 more for the G, but I sure would like to give the CDI a test drive on I-77 and I-79. The truth be known....The CDI is probably as safe as the Gwagen. Thing is, the CDI seats accomodate my long legs better than the Gwagen does and I like that lombar support. And then there is that CDI dream ride!

For highway travel, the ML beats the G hands down, every time; and I think the fuel cost difference will be more than $30-40. 26 mpg vs 15 mpg.

The truth be known....The CDI is probably as safe as the Gwagen. ;) The 21st century design of your ML is likely orders of magnitude safer than the 1970s design of your G-wagen.
