RE: Mercedes replacement seats

Guys,

Here's a thread where Mark posted a few photos of the SLK seats in his Cabrio.

http://www.pointedthree.com/disc/forums/showthread.php?tid=3170&posts=10&highlight=slk%20seat&highlightmode=1#M32058

Being mechanical, this seat lends itself very well to the W460 & W461.  I was glad to find that the Chrysler Crossfire also uses these seats.

Purchasing the cloth versions and having them recovered here in leather by one of our fine Mexican owned upholstery shops is very economical.

Best,

-Sean Philyaw

There are several leather models of the Crossfire that are also powered ... I do like the idea of custom covers with something like this inside. It is hard to say with out knowing the final costs whether going this route is the most cost efficient or coughing up the $1.5K/seat for new Recaros ...

RE: Mercedes replacement seats

Seats are a bit of a minefield, so much choice so much difference in quality, But I rely on my seat tester to tell me whats best.

Sorry not available for loan.

RE: Mercedes replacement seats

Are there any replacement seats that have arm rests?

Re: Mercedes replacement seats

Check with Scheelmann, I think they have 2002+ fitment, I'd hope they could do something with older models.

Re: Mercedes replacement seats

The Scheel-man seats have inside armrests. Toby is the US rep and he has them in his 2000 G500 and has offered me a set for my 1999. They would definitely work for your 1998 G320. Heated option as well, leather or cloth.
I know they are working on a SWB seat base mount as well. 463 1990-200 fitment would also work on a 460 series G.

RE: Mercedes replacement seats

I put ML seats in my old 463, they sat a little high but they worked well. I will dig up some pictures.

Re: Mercedes replacement seats

They look great, but I can't afford $2000 per seat right now. My wife would have my head...

That's great news. How well does the leather match the pre 2002 "S Class" grade?

Re: Mercedes replacement seats

I installed 2012 Sprinter seats in my 463. Minor modification. Super comfortable, supportive and have armrests. They should work much better with the LWB as access to the back of a SWB takes a little more effort. Cranking the backrest forward then doing the tilt.

Re: Mercedes replacement seats

Mark, having had both 460 and 463 you will surely know - is there more space in the 463?

I bought a set of Vito seats convinced they would fit my 460, only to find that either I dump the center console or the door bins as they are too wide.

they look very similar to the seats in your picture.

Re: Mercedes replacement seats

I love the fact that these have arm rests. Do they come in leather, have heated seats, or have lumbar supports?
