1999 G500 Rearview Mirror Security Lights

I have a 99 g500 with the red and green security lights on the rearview mirror. The red one has burnt out or quit working. Can the bulb be replaced?? If so, how do I go about this as I do not want to start pulling or trying to remove soothing that is not suppose to be removed.

I dont think it is weak as the remote works fine! Just the red light on the mirror is not flasing like normal but the green flashed as usual.

I'm guessing that it isn't meant to be replaceable.  Not that that should stop you from a repair attempt.

RE: 1999 G500 Rearview Mirror Security Lights

I have a Europa G500, the red and green mirror lights flash together if the fob battery is weak. If they flash alternately, it means "see workshop."

I was having some failed starts that we decided were due to a immobilizer defect. The red and green lights would flash in an alternating manner when the car would not start with the key. Turn the key and nothing, just red and green lights. Other times it would started normally with no light flashing. The problem was that though infrequent, the no start would leave me stranded, needing a tow or call to the wife for a pickup. I sent the ECU out for immo delete and now the car starts without fail. The issue now is that with every start, the red and green light will blink alternately for about a minute as you drive out onto the street. Its rather annoying and does attract some attention.

Today I took down my rear view mirror with the dog leash technique. Unplugged it, and removed the plug end housing on the mirror itself. There are 5 small wires with long pins, 4 together and one a space over in the plug. I tested them by removing one at a time and found the wires to the red and green lights.

Here's a pic with the wires pulled from the plug housing. The green is the lower one that was on it own away from the other wires and the red light wire had a reddish brown color (I'm color blind), and was the first one in the group of four wires closest to the solitary green light wire.

Tested the lock function which worked well with the lighting wires disconnected. All back together now, with no more blinking lights or re/green light function.
