My soon to be X GLK

After 16 months of owning the 350GLK two wheel drive, I have decided to let it go this week.
City MPG 13, Very near my G500 that is about twice the weight.
Highway is 18 MPG and not a drop better....The "G" gets 17 MPG and on occasion nearly 18 MPG.
It cost me about $500/month to own it.
Price drop was from $38,000 to $32,000 in 16 months.
Good riddance!

Re: My soon to be X GLK

Maybe go trade it in for the 2014 4 cyl Diesel? Suppose to get around/little over 40mpg on the HWY and I'm sure with a little tuning could REALLY be a great vehicle!

RE: My soon to be X GLK

Yes, your suggest works for us, although we use our Gwagen (1985 diesel) for both long trips and around our rural area. The 2013 GLK 250 diesel makes 38++ mpg, and likely better was we get to use it for really long distance travel. We have four autos, but will be moving to two, that will be the GLK 250 and the trusty 1985 Gwagen 300 diesel. We plan to have an electric plug-in at some point for short trips - 7 miles to town. A 50 - 80 mile range for local stuff should be enough. We have solar panels at our house, so power is relatively cheap.

Re: My soon to be X GLK

A practice partner of mine just got the last of the GLK250s, she loves it too. Great mileage, the color is close to my Azurite Blue of the G500, hers has the lighter tan interior. The only time I drive far enough to care about fuel economy, I definitely want the G or one of my Westfalias for use at the destination, so the MPG is a secondary concern for me. I do like how you are thinking though Tom. Cheers.

Re: My soon to be X GLK

Hi Eric,

So far we are very happy with the GLK 250. It is mostly my wife's auto, and she loves it. The seat warmers are her favorite option. Some of the options are just a little scary to me, like the events that follow when I get into the driver's seat and the seats, mirrors, steering wheel, etc., all begin to move to fit me.

Did I mention that we are getting the extended warranty, considering all of the electrical options.

Harald notes that he was responsible for naming the GLK. It is now called the GLC for model year 2016.

Take care!

Tom
