Passenger Side REAR seat not folding forward

Went to load something into the 500GE today and pulled down on the rear seat folding mechanism lever on the side of the seat. The lever traveled passed its typical arc and did not allow the rear seatback to fold forward. Any ideas on this?

Thank you!

Re: Passenger Side REAR seat not folding forward

There are a few screws holding the seat back to the seat frame and the lever pops straight off with some force. My guess is that your lever has moved on the splined shaft and just needs to be realigned. The mechanism is all visible with the back cover off.

Re: Passenger Side REAR seat not folding forward

Fixed this.

1) Turns out the handle to fold forward the rear seat back came apart. The plastic handle shroud separated from the nut that is embedded inside the plastic. I think heat and age caused this to happen.
2) Ordered new rear seat handle from MB.
3) Removed 6 Phillips #2 screws from seatback
4) Removed Handle
5) Mechanic used a crowsfoot wrench and hammer to tap off old nut
6) Replaced seat back panel
7) Pressed on new handle after carefully aligning it to make sure all plastic prongs on the handle receptacle were in place outside of the nut
8) All is good
