That was the first book about the Mercedes-Benz G-Class that I bought before buying my G. It basically is a compilation of articles about the G-class. In most of these articles the G-Class is compared with the Range Rover and a few other cars.

IMHO there are better books out there but if you are a G fanatic then it's a 'nice to have' item to complete your G-Class library.

If you are looking for more detailed information about the G-Class, it's history both past and present, I would suggest the following books;

1) Das grosse Mercedes G Buch - Michael Füngeling
AC Verlags & Messe GmbH - ISBN 3-930 193-24-8

2) Das neue grosse Mercedes G-Klasse-Buch - Jörg Sand
Heel Verlag GmbH - ISBN 3-89880-339-2

3) Die Legende fährt weiter, 25 Jahre Mercedes-Benz G-Klasse - Martin Breuninger
Tufa GmbH - ISBN 3-00-013633-9

These three books are all in German. I am not sure about the first two but the last one is and/or was definitely available in English as well. ORC in Germany still has both versions (German and English) within their web shop pages.

You can find them here: http://www.ORC.de

Daniela, who speaks English as well, is very helpful. You can contact her here: daniela.baur@orc.de

Just wish I had known about these other books before I set out to buy my G. There is some good information in these books which can be very helpful when shopping for a G-Class. Information that you won't find in the Brooklands book 'Mercedes G-wagen'.

Anybody out there who knows more about other good G-Class books? Please inform me as I love my books.

Regards,

Edit: take a look at this post 'G-wagen Jubilee Book in English Still Available' as well ( http://www.pointedthree.com/disc/forums/showthread.php?tid=3997&pos...)

This one hasn't been listed here yet. While not specifically about the G-Class, it has an entire section about it; and is very interesting reading about the company which developed and assembles the G-Class.

100 Years of Steyr-Daimler-Puch Graz edited by Rudolf Skarics and published by Steyr-Daimler-Puch Fahrzeugtechnik AG & Co. KG, ISBN: 3-9501107-1-2.

It should still be available from the MagnaSteyr Parts Department. Let me know by email, if you'd like contact information.

 Which book would you recommend if you were looking for a 460?
