KERR Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Steering stabilizer problem i think.. need some help So i got the new stabilizer today in the mail, and went to put it ona few min ago. It looks to be the same size but i havent checked the parts numbers. If it works i dont care if its the same or not, However when i reached up to put the socket on the stabilizer nut on the drivers side the hole sway bar moved. It will move a good 2 inches up and down. Thats not normal is it? If not then how do i tighten it up and is it suppse to be level when i do? The pictures before are of it up and down. just by turning it with my hand. Up and down would be bad news. However, I see that the left boot is cracked open (at least that how it appears in the pic) - that's bad. The boot is there to keep grease in and dirt out. To keep the moving parts happy. You'll need to replace it. Now, if the tie rod is turned very easily by hand and even has a little play up and down, then you need to replace the end asap. Otherwise no hurry. | ||

KERR Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Re: Steering stabilizer problem i think.. need some help thanks guys, i put it on today and it works fine! it took out all my shake, but i still have it when i hit the brakes, So... i guess now its time to start looking for rotors and brake pads. I did notice that i have a leak in the trans, where the plug goes in the side. I cleaned around it to mke sure it was not for my 60K mile service that i had i done about 5 k miles ago. After i cleaned the mud i tried to push the plug in more to see if it was loose. It started dripping fluid out like a leaky sink. Im not at home so but ill post more info tomarrow with pictures. | ||

Thanks for the tips on what to keep an eye on though. When i the bar is tilted back the "tear" close up and it looks like haralds. | ||
