What happened ?? PEter It wasn't "off the air". Most people did not have any problems. About 6-10 people (that I know of) had to redo their browser cache due to DNS settings changes; and it was almost exclusively folks who hadn't been on the forum for a while. Not to worry. We're growing! (The nice thing about the posting on the "other forum" is that it brought us some new members. Thanks BW!)

You have no name resolution, cannot see any nameservers, I can only ping single IP address, no reverse lookup. My last traces to 69.9.37.142 are at; vl701.cr1.nyc1.crnc.net [69.9.33.129] vl4.cr1.nyc2.crnc.net [69.9.33.166] The DNS cache is cleared at boot! I have tried this from three different computers/networks last days! Edited by 460332 3/13/2007 7:21 PM

460332 Date registered: Apr 2006 Location: Europe Vehicle(s): | RE: P3 address I've tested this again, it seems that the Name servers (DNS -the internet phone) of some network providers aren't updated or they have wrong referrals. The DNS is dynamically updated, but if the P3 provider did some changes that is not entered correctly it would take some explicit testing to have the errors revealed. The web statistics should reveal if the traffic is as usual, i.e. don't look at how many entries there is on the G-list! For some reason I was having issues trying to access P3 from my home PC. My company last Monday issued a new stringent Internet use policy. I have to go to the public library two blocks south to participate on this site or access other Internet material. Part of the policy in action this morning: I had to go to my manager this morning to have him stand over my shoulder to access a site related to work so that way I do not get in trouble. The site was on hazardous materials. Anyways, thanks for your help Dutch.

This address will usually work when Pointedthree.com will not: http://69.9.37.142/disc/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=57 You'll probably have to log in again, but it should give you access.

Maybe they're not connected, just a strange coincicence. Will it help any troubleshooting effort if I leave it as is for a bit? Or should I go and manually re-load the picture? -Dave G.

Your avatar is showing up just fine over here. Pop-top camper and the moon in the background. Right? Go into the My Profile and see if you have the switch turned on to view avatars.

When I posted that note, I was not seeing the avatar there....spooky.... :^) -Dave G. PS - yep...seems to be fine now.... and I was always seeing everyone else's avatars, only my own appeared as the "redX box", both on posts, and when I went to my profile page to check it. Oh well. seems fine now. Edited by hipine 3/15/2007 4:02 PM
