The dampner should be attached to the bottom of the diff bracket, instead of to the top. If you can't get the needed clearance with attachment from underneath, you need the updated bracket. Attachment to the top of the tie rod bracket is correct, however.

Reservoir to the diff side, mount damper on top. Perhaps so, but my G500 (w/ bracket #70) came that way from the factory. Someone obviously needs to retrain those Puchians.

I have to correct my last post - the 460 steering damper mounts differently. Hussein, if you steering does not center like it did before, there might be some binding in the geometry you created. I just replaced both my shock and the bracket of which I purchased from Eurotruck....the W460 bracket points down. Here is a photo of the shock and mounting points.....note I did not opt for the new and improved 463 shock and went with the original. Thank you,
-Sean Without a lift, that's not very easy to do. Just take Mortinson's photo and imagine that the body end of the dampner is connected below the bracket instead of above the bracket as shown in his photo.

Gotcha, thanks.
I wanted to see a better view of the ledge on the pumpkin that #70 bracket bolts to. I ran out in the shop and took a look at an IFAV axle we have sitting on the shelf with the same setup. I had forgotten it was out there.

Steve, I don't have the EPC running - maybe some other member can jump in. I believe only early 460 had replacable boots. And see the other thread for reference: http://www.pointedthree.com/disc/forums/showthread.php?tid=6785&pos... the boot is no longer available Edited by 4x4abc 4/4/2007 7:19 PM

Compare these two with those in the picture posted by Thairish. Who manufacturers the "new" steering damper? Is it made by Stabilus?
