Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what it would cost to install AC into a mid 90's G320 that doesn't currently have a unit? Is the vehicle pre-plumbed and just a matter of installing it in the correct place?

Retrofitting it would be a pain. Getting the evaporator in seems like it would take removing the entire HVAC system under the dash. The condensor wouldn't be bad.

I would not even begin to know what a G320 has preexisting as far as AC plumbing. If no one has a better solution, you might try Vintage Air . They have universal systems. I believe they estimated parts at about $1,200.00, but I can't find the email from them to confirm ...

Adoni, My 460 is in the shop as of today for an estimate on the A/C. It had an existing system but it was trashed by the guy who put a new engine in. I probably need a new compressor, definately a new condensor and dryer and at least one hose, and an idler pully/belt etc. I found a guy who does nothing but A/C and has lots of experience retrofitting. Unfortunately if you don't have an evaporator coil under the dash, thats probably going to be the biggest part of the job. I'm not familiar with 463 so I don't know if you can just add an evaporator to your existing heater box or if you'll need a whole new unit under the dash. I'm sure someone else will know that. My guy said $300 for the compressor. I'm pretty sure a condensor will be less than $200 The evaporator is smaller, maybe not even as much as the condensor. Don't know about the dryer and hoses yet. I do know that MB A/C parts (460) are outrageously expensive. Supposedly the compressor for my truck is $1800 plus from MB. I'll keep you updated, I should know tommorow or Monday what the whole thing will cost. It was 97 degrees here today, glad I had to drive the car with a/c! Jonathan

I read that the best and easiest way to get AC into a 463 (no they don't all have it) was an aftermarket AC by an italian company (can't remeber but starts with a D). Seems like it isn't worth it to put in an OEM one as the entire dash and possibly (?) the engine needs to be removed first.
