unusual 463 bumper

Can anyone explain this bumper? It has air vents in the bottom and what looks like a recess for a tow pin without the pin.

Part number: A463 880 1970

Re: unusual 463 bumper

Interestingly those 3 vents let air in just above the skid plate so it appears they intend to get air to anything mounted over the skid plate... (where the g55's tranny cooler is since they have an intercooler in the bumper)... so as such, i'm not too worried about my tranny cooler relocated to being over the skid plate since i've the tow pin bumper with those vents...

Interesting - someone looked it up on an EPC and it didn't appear on a 1999 epc so we assumed it was newer.

Ah there's the problem, that *someone* checked it on a 463227 (SWB 300GE) VIN, but on a 350GDT VIN the part number checks out correctly
mbspares.chance.ru puts it at €450

Interesting, so petrol and diesel G's have different bumpers...perhaps because later petrol G's all have the transmission intercooler in the front, while earlier ones had a simpler cooling system (with no slits in the bumper).
