G500 2002 Rebuild - First attempt

Hey guys !

Been putting all my spare time for the last 2 months on the rebuild of a G500 2002 I purchased last summer. the exterior was in bad shape as you can see in the pictures but for a first Rebuild, I'm pretty happy with the result.
Considering I am an automation technician and I don't have much experience with mechanics and cars, my expectations were exceeded and I had lots of fun learning about the rugged G-Class world !

Let's say it is not as efficient as my GLK on the Mileage but it feels much more like a truck, my wife's Hyunday Sonata as more cargo space than the GLK and I can finally fit both our segways in the same vehicule

It's not 100% complete as it is still missing the rear wheel that will be flipped on the right side and uncovered ( had to modify the bracket ) and Led headlights and fogs.
As you probably know, it is not real Brabus material, I wish I had the budget for this type of engine but they are impossible to find at an affordable price anyway.

I've seen some much nicer projects on this forum but I hope mine makes it's place amongst class of 2015 !

UPDATE : Here are my 2 other G's which I previously owned dreaming about the real size version ;)

Looking for an even smaller size replica for a summer photoshoot !!

Nope, not a real one, I know it is cheesy to advertise it as one but it first was a prank I was doing to a friend that owns a 2014 model.
I'll most likely remove the BRABUS lettering on front grille and rear pillar, it'll go back to my retirement goal box

Great job. How you uninstall the dash cover?

Pretty simple, you have little screws to remove when you take the ashtray out, be cafeful, these pins are weak and I broke one although it still holds well in place when I screwed it back in.
Then it's just a matter of pulling the whole console trim straight out, it's holding with 2-3 clamps on each side.

Watch not to pull too far, there is a bunch of connectors that need to be disconnected as soon as you get unsnap the clamps.

Looks great. My ashtray was only held by pressure with some padding around it. Might have been the work of the PO but it actually works quite well and it is easy to get in and out

Nice job ! I also got a steering wheel cover from ACE RACING ( brand ) that is part leather and part carbon fiber just like the trims. All wood inserts are changed to carbon fiber, side door panels included

Im now on a roof mount racking project, photos to follow this summer.

Nice job but I think you need to at least change the headlights to match the whole modernisation. Everything looks believable but the headlights are stuck in the 80's. I think it's because you went for the very latest front grill. However if you had gone to the previous grill, my eyes may not expect to see a projector headlight. The contrast makes it draw attention.
