On the quest for the next international ML pics? .... care for underwater photo's ... ML wrecks? ....  Apparently the water is 34 degress celcius! huh .... never sweated in the water! ..... Flight organized this morning .... takeoff in 4 hours! ....... now where is my table cloth ..... to put on my head! basel-frankfurt ... now waiting to board for ABu Dhabi in 15 min ...... Parked the ML for at least 2-4 Weeks  Now they are making us take our shoes off , and refusing liquid items on board ..... london even doesn't let you have hand luggage ...... Everything ...except my underwear ..... goes into the xray!..... better that a bomb I say!!!!!! |

Enjoy the Gulf. I travelled extensively in the region back in 2003 - I was doing some work for Saudi Aramco then - and the UAE is by far the most pleasant of the Gulf states. Especially Dubai: huge expat crowd there; Abu Dhabi is not bad either. August is hot though: damn hot and humid and outdoor activities are severely curtailed as a result. |

Thanks wolfgang, I hope to arrange a Desert Safari for the people working for me on the project. It'll be their reward for reaching the first "impossible" milestone on the 31st October! ... Stay tuned ! I'm providing the Abu Dhabi Government's first move to eGovernment with 18 new Application services for the "Environmental Agency Division" ...i.e Fisheries Licensing & monitoring of vessels, Awareness Awards, Management of Falcons (passports), Endangerd Species, Hazardous Waste, Informational Services , etc...... You'd like this setup wolfgang (FSC - Fujitsu-Siemens Blade servers running High Avaliable Linux Infrastructure, SAN Storage, Database & Application Clusters, Portal Development, SMS messaging, networking , etc......) Current PM got kicked out ... and I have to turn it around ... the usual senario! .... double the effort in 1/4 of the time!. ... ..... so this will be one of those work hard , play hard assignments...... |

Dune driving is very cool... last time I went (white sands, new mexico) a friend in a ford explorer got stuck until 4am... right after a place called "the wall" you may imagine why... lots of jeep transmissions losts there... I've never tryed with my ML there, is temptating but is an "expensive" adventure because of the repairs...
