Check Engine Light AAAAAgain!

The damn thing's gonna burn out! This time it's PO400 and PO442 EGR malfunction and small leak in evaporative emissions control system. I'm sure this is triggering PO400. It could be a bad gas cap. I doubt it's the egr since I replaced that this spring. Are there any hoses I need to look at if the new gas cap doesn't fix?

Is there any chance that a c/l related to emissions may be covered by the emissions warranty in your State? I know in Ontario, the manufacturer need to pay for repairs for the 1st ten years due to our emission laws.

RE: Check Engine Light AAAAAgain!

Mine just flipped to 160,000 miles. I doubt there's any warranty left except on my tires!

The emission warranty is based on years, and not mileage.

In my state it's 8 years or 80,000 miles. The best emissions warranty is in California where it's 10 years or 100,000 miles.

I specifically searched several sites and parts houses and there is not a pcv listed, although it may be called something else. I do see what I believe to be one on the valve cover.

It's back off, now .The pipe that runs across the injectors with a clean-out cap on it, well the clean out cap was loose and about to fall off. The dealer was the last to be in there so I wonder . . .

Re: Check Engine Light AAAAAgain!

Have you had good luck with the '99 otherwise? I saw a couple here for the the low 20's with 50-60 thousand miles on them.

You should be able to pick up a '99 for around $15,000 -$16,000 with 50 to 60k miles. Get a later 99 (manufactured after Nov. 98). 2001 and up are really the better ones, though.
