Canadian Military G close look

Hi everyone.
I went to my local MB dealer today and I instantly had an adrenalin rush as soon as I saw a Military G marked in front of shop door. I have been told that It was brought to get serviced. They did not tell me what is wrong. I did not know that army does not have their own technician to service their own vehicles since It can be critical to fix them in the field.
I took a look at it closely. It was a 3 seater and There was a complex partition barrier around a feet after rear barn doors.
You can see it is a work horse for the army. looking well used. Scratches all over.
Passenger side dash handle is made out of metal not covered with plastic.
there is inner frame inside door panels looking like second doors. Perhaps something to do with armour. Very heavy duty two dash mounts. Rear lights are different then civilian. Fuel tank has small protection plate, almost half is uncovered. There is huge lockable metal box inside behind driver probably for guns and ammo.
More things that you noticed different then you thought?

It would be interesting to see the VIN.
Also, I am very curious about those rear extensions labeled "towing tiedown" on the back frame

RE: Canadian Military G close look

Does anyone have an idea what those two things are on the back "window" in pic #9. I noticed them last time I saw one of these things up close.

I wonder if those spring spacers can be purchased?

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. The only two times I have seen one of these up close and actually gone inside, no photos was strictly enforced unless you were several (~3) meters away. You were lucky to see one unattended.

...

In photo #9, those look like solar trickle chargers. The top is for 12V and the bottom is for 24V.

You know, that was my first thought too. I guess it would make sense on a vehicle that might not see use for some time. Always ready to go.

I found a link to these small trickle charger panels. Nice product.

Well spotted.
To keep the main battery topped up but also I imagine also for communications gear.

I cant find any others quite like these, might have to get a 2W one.

I wonder if it's possible to get the NATO style back doors for a civilian g, probably would require some cutting for the extra hinges.

Solar chargers are available for humvees (HMMWV) on eBay (24 volt). Around $100 iirc.
