the W140 did pretty well. I think the W140 got slammed by the E65. poor W140.

You know I pretty like the shape of the Bimmer E65 shape than the quiet new S class W220 .

The E65 looks very 'German'. The size of the BMW E65 is equivalent to the MB W140.

really? If it is equivalent to the 140, then I should check it out. What's funny is that the E65 had all the technology bits before the W221 even came out. So I guess BMW is setting the bar for luxury nowadays...

The only downside is the early 2002 BMW E65 has lots of electrical problems.

So i think the 2004-2005 models are the good ones. Too bad the shape only last for 5 years. The E66 came out but it not as nice as the E65 ones...

but wasn't the E66 just a facelifted version of the E65? It wasn't completely redesigned, was it?

Just a face lift but it looks completely different. I say the E65 shape still looks good. In 2008 there will be a totally new design 7series

Re: BMW E65 7 series vs MB W140

IMO, the E66 looks best. The two cars held up pretty well. What was their speed upon impact?

S500-Regarding the technology stuff. It's not who comes out with is first (which MB started a bunch of stuff), but how well it works (which MB does a pretty good job as well). iDrive vs the new COMAND. Which came out first? Which is easier to use? If you had one, for which reason (coming out first, or being better)? I rest my case.

RE: BMW E65 7 series vs MB W140

Considering the front end damage on the 140 it looks like the car has spun perhaps being hit by another car? Anyway all the people from both cars would walk away from that I am sure.

I honestly have to say, I LOVE the E38. IMO, Those looks so good. I really want one. As I have said before, my dream garage will consist of a W140 S600, a C140 S600, and a E38 750iL

3 beautiful V12's.

I really like the E38 with the M parallel wheels. They look awesome. I 'll take the 728i anyday then the 750iL.

The 728i uses the M52 engine like in my E36 328i. So maintaining is not a pain ass as the V8 and V12 brother.

Very true. Especially the rarity of the V12s mean that they will be hard to fix in Brunei huh?

Actually there are a lot of V12 750iL ober here. Because in 2000,Brunei host the Apec meeting and many BMW 750iL were used as a transport car to carry the leaders of each nation. Except for President Cliton though. He uses his own limo..

After the meeting many were sold. Big companies bought them. Many are company cars.

Re: BMW E65 7 series vs MB W140

having driven on the autobahn in many of them, for my fathers used car business, i would say that my fav. remains the original 7 series, from the early 80's............its like driving a speedboat, or something to me........

i have even raced in a original 745i (3,5l with a turbo on it) (this was a factory model, though rare) Shes SO FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many people who bought their luxuries car 'new'. At the end of the day, they can't afford the maintennace and monthly payment to the bank. Their car got taken away/stolen by the bank.
