My "New" 1995 G320

I picked up this very low mileage G320 from Germany earlier this year. It was imported with the help of a German acquaintance. Shipped to Long Beach California and federalized in Sacramento. It was 7 months from when I purchased it and finally received it in Portland Oregon. The last owner had turned 80 years old and stopped driving. He bought the car in 1996 and owned it for almost 20 years. The rear seats are the split leather bench that looks like they have never been used.

I pulled off the Atik rims that had a lot of flakey paint and put on a set of ET43 18" Ashtaroths with 33" tires. The 215 HP of this little in-line 6 m104 motor pushes the big tires around no problem. I have been working on some small deferred maintenance issues, but the car is in amazing condition.

I drove to Bend yesterday to pick up the rebuilt transaxle for my 78 Bus and visited with Kent and Kelly there as well. They bought my old beauty 460 300GD in 2008. I got a few nice pics at a stop on the Deschutes River just south of the Warm Springs reservation.

Very nice! Now you need to bring it east and ride with the boys here.
BTW do the 33" tires scrub at all?

Great looking truck. How are you enjoying the SWB? Drives and handles like a little sports car doesn't it.

Glad it worked out for you without any complications.
Enjoy it my friend.

Re: My "New" 1995 G320

Ya, the handling is totally different than the LWB.
I really like it and use it as my DD.

The importation and RI process is frustrating and prolonged. It was hard to predict all the costs when the initial purchase decision was made, but the end result was still a good value overall. It is not hard to see how one could get potentially burned at various stages of the process though.

RE: My "New" 1995 G320

I have family in southern California and figured it would be a better place to register it for future resale value. It is parked off the street and not driven much, so the California plates are not an issue here.

Last picture in Germany on the way to Bremerhavn. My friend Mario was driving it. He has been all through the Americas in his poptop 290 GD,

Yes, it has the I-6 m104. Takes regular gas too.

The LWB behind is Capri Blue Metallic MB5366 color code

Re: My "New" 1995 G320

This went to a new owner in Virginia at the end of summer. It was definitely a fun car and we enjoyed owning it. I know the new owner appreciates that it is a rare special vehicle. The SWB 463 are going way up in value, especially recently, the short BA3 body was discontinued in 2011.

RE: My "New" 1997 G300

Well last year, I bought a SWB green G300 in Europe with the help of Guido Matthes. It is a diesel and is a nice driver. The condition is excellent with a black leather interior and I added a couple of nice options to it before shipping to save on freight costs later.

I picked it up from the registered importer Autostadt West in Sacramento last August. They did the RI work on the G320 as well. I made the original purchase in September 2017. I have yet to receive my Oregon title which is "in process." Another many month slog to be fully street legal. It is sitting back down in Calif right now on temp tags waiting for it's full glory in Oregon.

Re: My "New" 1995 G320

Wonderful wonderful little G.

I have an option on one of these right now 1991 300GE with original 80,000km on the clock, probably the only one in the country.
Single owner from new with full-service records from Mercedes, with some paint issues (nothing major and no rust) and a cracked windscreen, but the guy want $ 22,000 for it.

I've told him $19,000 and I'll take it (still a steep price), but these photos are not helping!

Wow, nice low miles!
My G320 was low miles, but the G300 has seen a lot of pavement. With this age car it is a lot about condition as much as the mileage..

The 300GE seems like a good deal. Keep working him on the price for a few months.

Sticking with the vintage plate theme, I picked up a set of old style Oregon plates

Re: My "New" 1995 G320

No wheel spacers. It is a US spec 18" alloy from my old 2002 G500. The tire is a General Grabber AT2 tire in 275/70/18. A little over 33" tall. No interference, so no spacer required.
