DSRC is different from WiFi. Other side of the state.

And now the 64 dollar question. How's the latency across the wireless link?
Here's a test from the car on 101 across about 1 mile wireless (Tropos MESH Network) into Google's vpn server:

Now Phillips announced a straight WiFi phone today in Berlin.
Philips touts straight-to-Wi-Fi Skype phone
Consumer VoIP without a PC
Andrew Charlesworth, vnunet.com 01 Sep 2006
Electronics giant Philips has announced a cordless VoIP phone that connects directly with wireless broadband without needing a PC.
The Philips Voip841 is the first Dect cordless phone to offer this functionality, according to Rudy Provoost, chief executive of Philips' consumer electronics division, who announced the phone at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin.
The handset will be available from December, but Philips has not yet announced a price.
Netgear announced a PC-less VoIP phone, the Skype SPH101, at CES in January. The device works on Wi-Fi networks to which the user has access and stores up to 200 contacts.
Skype handsets using USB cables or a Wi-Fi connection have been available from a range of vendors including Taiwanese firms Wistron and Accton. But they all require software running on a computer.
The Netgear model was the first to allow users to place phone calls without the need for a PC by connecting directly to a router.

I have Skype for Pocket PC and it works quite well, with either an EVDO connection or a Wi-Fi connection. The only annoying thins (and I’m sure there’s a hack solution that I just haven’t found yet) is that it uses the speakerphone speaker instead of the ear speaker. We leave tomorrow for a Caribbean cruise and the ship has Wi-Fi, so I’m going to see if it will work there. |

I can do that on my XV6700.
They just need to take the CDMA out...
Have fun testing on your cruise.
