Do you think some moisture may have done a little damage to that solder point on the PCB? It seems I can either mail it in to a company like BBA Reman for a rebuild, but there's no guaranty it'll be rebuildable. And I've talked to folks who said they had them "rebuild" it, but still didn't work and had to buy a new one. Do just bite the bullet and buy a new one, but still run the risk that it doesn't solve the problem? Thanks.

It's worth checking every soldered contact for separation or corrosion and re-solder if needed, use a strong magnifying glass..look for any "green" build up on or around or between circuit board components. If any, use a solder flux brush and contact cleaner to remove and blow dry with compressed air. Find the water leak, correct... and cross your fingers!
