The concept is based on a small UNIMOG (presumably U 90) frame, axles, etc...with a G body (a little wider and with heavy armorplating) and an OM 642 engine. raicar Edited by raicar 12/6/2010 11:26 AM

MB certainly has all the parts to build that in-house. I won't ask for the MRSP, though....

I have always been very impressed with the UNIMOG. I imagine that the portals would have to be either 404 or 416's with maybe super-fast gears or it would be limited to about 45 MPH. I would like to see more pictures of the LAPV 7.X. Thanks for posting it. Phil

Strange that they leave Graz with Canadian plates, thought that would be done after delivery. I got a good look at one a few weeks back at a festival. The Canadian Armed Forces had a display set up. Among many other things, there was a G. I got a good look at it (no detailed photos allowed) and noticed a large spring spacer on the top of the springs - I would estimate about 2.5 inches or so. In addition to this, I believe they use the tallest/stiffest springs. It is definitely a suspension lift. All of the radius arms have drops on the frame mounts to keep caster corrected. There are factory photos of this from several years back. Do a search on the G forum. They get delivered with plates because they are oftentimes sent directly to where the forces are stationed - ie, Afghanistan, etc, having never even touched Canadian soil yet. That style of plate is on all of our military vehicles. Steve (IMG_3394.jpg) Attachments ---------------- IMG_3394.jpg (121KB - 28 downloads)
