I know from being at previous forum and here that most members are single or divorced, and there's some kid too young to drive but at one point during your ownership of the automobile (MB), you'll be asked to ferry your niece/nephew, stepchild, kid from your church group etc.

Here's something to remember:  when using a booster seat, make sure you strap the booster seat even when there is NO child in the seat.  God forbid in case of an accident at best these things will scratch the backside of the front seat or scratch the center console, or at worst they will crash through windshield or end up embedded in your head.  The tissue box turning into a lethal flying object in an auto accident is much of a myth, but unsecured booster seats will.

If you do not want the brat to vomit on Nappa Leather interior, make sure you don't gun the accelerator and slam on the brakes nor do you test the limits of your shocks and suspension - drive gently and take corners at gentle speed.

Your question prompted a little research on this matter:  turns out that MB used to have what's called BabySmart system in their models dating back to late 90's.  The system evidently worked in tandem with a BabySmart compatible child seat which had a built-in transponder that shut off the front passenger airbag from deploying when the child seat was attached to the front passenger seat.

Nowadays, that system is superseded by what's called the Occupant Classification System (OCS) that senses the weight placed on the front passenger seat and depending on the weight sensor readings from the front passenger seat,  the system turns off the airbag deployment.  Even my Honda Element comes equipped with that feature

So, the answer is that there once seemed to be an MB approved specific child seats but not anymore.  Whatever the circumstance, always read instructions manual for BOTH MB and child seat you plan to install.  Also, use the front seat to convey children (but NEVER rear-facing infant seats) only when absolutely necessary.
