Tiff goes to the Bosch testing grounds, and tries out how traction control, ESP, ABS, and other safety systems work. He tests in an X-Type, but we know where our safety systems come from.

Chrisgd300 Veteran Date registered: May 2006 Location: Belgium Vehicle(s): 86 GD 300 and a few others Posts: 232 | RE: Fifth Gear tests Bosch Safety Systems I've always only driven non software controlled cars and I must say since this morning I'm a firm believer in Bosch safety systems. It had snowed overnight, only a few inches, but continued freezing through the day. Morning came first vehicles drove out and when I went on the monthly grocerie run I was facing horrible road conditions. Hardpacked frozen snow with just the slightest melt from the sun i.e. an ice skating ring. What would normally have had me slipping and sliding turned out to be a totally uneventfull drive in our newly aquired 2004 A-class with all the traction gizmos. I consider myself a reasonable driver having driven on all kind of surfaces and with mostly rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. But even before I could feel wheelspin or slipping and sliding the software interveined. This modern baby merc has been to school and graduated magna cum laude traction wise.
