Printed matter reference is: MKP 6701 -3101-40/03/05.86, so I believe that it is May 1986.

Hi jeremyw, I liked you small colour mapping project, but the factory in Graz used only the colour codes from Mercedes Trucks,
or any colours for special orders. Was your project supposed to find colours for all Mercedes or Geländewagen only?

It looks like a few of the pictures offered you are from vehicles that are repainted with just any other colour the owner liked.
Including colours from the Daimler-Benz passenger cars move our procject into a different league as different colours for passenger
cars was offered to different countries at different years... In that case will Glasurit, DuPont or any RAL-web pages offer colour maps.
The VIN # or data card is the best way to find what colours were used. From 1979-1985 Graz mainly offered the colours shown at 4x4abc.com

Hi there,

The point of my small W460 color project was to find/post REAL LIFE pictures of the colors Mercedes offered worldwide on W460 G-Wagen's. In other words, when you see the color Wheat Yellow DB1681 on Harald's color chart, what did/does that color look like in real life on a G-Wagen? While I appreciate colors, I want to keep this W460 only for now as they are the "original" G's and info is getting more and more difficult to find as time goes on. Think of this as a sort of historical record if you will.

Yes, I understand that many of the pics posted are not of factory Mercedes colors. I'd love to clean up the thread, delete those, and keep the thread Mercedes factory only but I don't have moderator status to do so.

If you have any further info on W460 G colors offered, pictures of said colors, etc, please post. Thank you!

Thanks Hus. Do you have a color code from the vehicle please? I don't find that color on my factory charts (yet).

YES, I agree, it much more interesting to contribute to what was original than what each individial person on the globe modify to they car...
If you make a list of what to delete/change to this thread I think DUTCH, the moderator, will help.

RE: The W460 paint code compilation project

A question. If we have photos of W463's in W460 colours are they useful? I have an Arctic White DB(9)147 W463 in at the moment. I believe that colour was available on W460's (open to correction on that). Eddie.

Yes, thanks Eddie! However, none of my W460 color charts show an Arctic White DB147...that doesn't mean it didn't come on a W460 however as I don't have all of the W460 color charts(looking for more, hint hint).
Please post, thanks!

Jeremy

That looks exactly like my new rides color:

Color Code 6815
Description Achatgruen = Agate Green
AKZO Code DB815

Mark

The blue one looks like Woody's in Oregon

Ah, you're very right Mark. I'll add it to my list above thanks!

Perhaps Lapis Blue like Woody's. There are about 4 blue hues that look fairly similar (at least on my color chart).

RE: The W460 paint code compilation project

Updated list;

First, some helpful info via EddieG(needamerc) on where your color code # is located;

"On a W460, see the lower plate[in the engine bay on air inlet], top four digit code, 9735.
At times it takes some interpreting, cross-reference with RAL codes and 3 digit MB codes."

Keep in mind that there appears to be no pattern to the first digit before the 3 digit MB color code...some vehicles have a 1, some a 5, some a 7, some a 9 as the prefix. Only the last 3 digits matter.

Factory color charts...

1980: 5 standard colors(Creamy White and Wheat Yellow look too yellowy and Agave Green looks too black here);

1981: 22 optional metallic colors;

1983-1984: four new metallic paints on right side of chart;

Also, RAL chart(~Euro standardization);

Real life G colors(in alphabetical order);

Agate Green DB815

Agave Green DB6880

Anthracite Grey Metallic DB7172

Astral Silver Metallic DB735

Carmine Red RAL3002/DB3535

Creamy White RAL9001

Cypress Green DB876

Fir Green DB6295/RAL6009

Gentian Blue DB5361/RAL5010

Lapis Blue DB932

Light Ivory DB1623/RAL1015

Magenta Red Metallic DB???(waiting on Hus55)

Sky Blue RAL5015

(maybe??)Wine Red DB3558/RAL3005

Zinc Yellow RAL1018

AGAIN, I NEED YOUR HELP IN GATHERING MORE PICTURES OF ONLY THE ORIGINAL/FACTORY/OEM W460 GELANDEWAGEN COLORS NOT ALREADY FOUND IN THIS THREAD(I DON'T NEED DOUBLES UNLESS THE QUALITY OF YOURS TRUMPS THE QUALITY OF ONE HERE). I DO NOT WANT PICS OF NON-W460 GWAGEN COLORS, W463 COLORS, AFTERMARKET COLORS, THANKS THOUGH. PLEASE PM ME WITH ANY INFO!!!

PS--If any of my colors or info is incorrect, please advise. Thank you!!
