I'm looking for new front seats for my -89 460 300GD swb. I have the standard seats... means no recaro... Does anyone have an idea for what to get... recaros is a bit hard to get hold of... so... i'm not keen on buying new ones. I've seen a 460 cab with mercedes slk seats... any one have an idea for what to look for?

Am fitting Volvo seats to my 290GD. Did it on other cars before, as I found that Volvo (2xx-7xx-9xx-8xx series) are the only seats on which I'm comfortable for long journeys.
The lumbar support is adjustable, and the general shape/position seem to be just right for me.
It involves some work on the rails, will post details once finished.

BMW sports seats from the 3-series. They are narrow enough for the G.
Did you try finn.no? Always a good selection of Recaros in various condition there.

I have the SLK seats and they are very comfortable. The high thigh bolsters on the Recaros have nice support but when climbing in and out I tended to get the boys pinched once to often (if you know what I mean). Most of the early 99/98 model SLKs had manual seats as standard over here.
The other option I considered was the 2 door C-class 2002-present. They too are mechanical and fold forward like G seats.
