Bring a GL Diesel to California

Is it still true that I can buy a used (7500K miles or more) elsewhere from 45 states and register in California w/o problems?
I am helping a friend to locate one. His wife totaled her van and now realized with 2 kids, they want a tank!

I think so. Check your DMV to be sure.

RE: Bring a GL Diesel to California

It is my understanding that the reason they don't sell the GL450 diesel in California is because it will not pass your state's tough emission standards. If that turns out to be accurate, then, you could visit driving one but you can't be a legal resident and own one.

Massachusetts follows CA emissions standards for new cars. They allow importation of used cars with over 7,500 miles. Check your local laws.

This is true, which is why I'm waiting for my G320CDI to one day come to Nevada

Re: Bring a GL Diesel to California

So .... we took delivery of the GL from the transporter yesterday, drove to DMV in Santa Rosa, CA, VIN & mileage verified and got the real license plate.

All done ... it was EASY!

The car runs well, hardly noticeable typical diesel knocks and no diesel noxious smell from the PIPE! I will take it for a long test drive this weekend.

Now I am jealous. I want the same engine in my G!

One thing I noted that the car comes w/ a donut as a spare. I wonder if I can swap my "real" spare tire from my G and mount this donut instead.
Would save a lot of weight.
