Friday the 11th, early satruday at worst, maybe through early sunday the 13th. I wouldn't be able to stay all week unless it started earlier in that week, like the 8th or 9th. Notice the first three words though, oskar, I'll be looking for you, treffen or not so you've been warned you'd better change the locks, stop the mail, and leave no forwarding address if you want to dodge sharing a beer or two. -Dave G.

However a little smaller than first intended. A few of us will meet 9/18 at Great Basin National Park campground have a German Bratwurst barbecue dinner. Stay the night there. Sat visit Lehman caves. Maybe hike Mt Wheeler - which is a 4-5 h easy roundtrip. Coming to join us ? Oskar Edited by oskar 8/20/2009 1:08 PM

hipine Date registered: Jul 2006 Location: US, CO, Bailey Vehicle(s): 460 1980 280GE w. 617A ![]() | RE: G Wagen Treffen Proposal Since I'll probably arrive first and pick a campsite I thought I'd check in with you guys to see which camp you'd prefer. There are a few down around 7500 ft, and then there's the Wheeler Peak camp at about 10,000. I ususally stay at wheeler because it gets less pressure, is at the trailhead for the best hiking, and has the best views. However, it can be cold there, and some may have issues with the altitude. Another thing to consider is that we'll be doing a cave tour which leaves from the ranger's station which is down nearer to the lower camps and would involve a 40 minute drive down the mountain and back up if we stay at Wheeler. We also do have other hiking options other than those leaving from Wheeler camp. If folks haven't been out to Lexington Arch, that's a nice walk as well, but requires a little drive to another part of the park. So long story short, any preference on whether whether we stay down low (I prefer Upper Lehman Creek camp in this case) or up at the wheeler peak camp? I'm undecided and could go any way the group perfers. Also meals - I was thinking I might make some fried cabbage and bacon to compliment Oskar's brats for dinner on Friday night. What about Saturday night? Will everyone be staying Saturday night too? Any ideas for dinner that night? I have a recipe for a nice chicken tortilla soup that is pretty darned good and easy to make up in a group-sized batch. Or we can each prepare our own for Saturday, or whatever, I'm open to anyone's suggestions. I just thought I'd better touch base as I'll be unavailable after this Saturday morning. -Dave G.

Looks like we will be leaving Reno around 1100-1200 which will put us in town around 1600-1700. I have been more consumed dialing in the DV trip, so I will leave the planning to you seasoned veterans of that area. Oskar, let me know if you need me to pick anything up from Bavarian World as far as imported food goes. Mike

Richard and Mike, try not to drive off the twisty road due to the great views all around! I won't have too far to go to get there. I'm only coming from Escalante, UT, with a stop for a shower at the deluxe accommodations of the Minersville state park campground. So I'll probably be there some time around mid-day. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 18th. -Dave G.
