MBUSA Memo on 2006's

I got a call from MBUSA today and was told a memo just went out about the 2006 G-Class ... not much we didn't know already. The new news is that the official launch will be June 2006; the price has not changed from the 2005 pricing (G500 is $81,675; G55K is $105,275); the Designo colors have been discontinued; the G55K will contiunue to have the Brush Guard standard, but will be a Dealer add-on with the G500 (so technically the price went up on the 500, since you used to get it for free) ... they will be updating the MBUSA website "shortly"

Can't wait to see the updates! Any idea if they will include something about the '07 diesel G?

Re: MBUSA Memo on 2006's

The memo that they read to me was an internal MBUSA memo on the MY'06 G-Class ... it had nothing in it about the MY'07

Re: MBUSA Memo on 2006's

When I was in the Mercedes Dealership several days ago, I asked about the new 2007MY. When she went into the computer that allows you to configure the features that you want, the G-Wagon was not even listed. They did not hve any new details of anything coming out any time soon.

Seems the dealerships are always the last to know...Ive gone to three dealerships around the SF Bay Area and they have no clue about the next G-wagen. They all thought I was asking about the GL...

Here in the states, Manhatten is the only dealership that would have the most accurate information as it is owned and run by MBUSA. All other Mercedes dealerships are independently owned retail shops.

Re: MBUSA Memo on 2006's

The internal memo was just released yesterday by MBUSA Corporate (not a Dealerships).  I have no idea how MBUSA sends their memos to the Dealers or when the Dealers tell their Salesman.  That may take some time ....

My advice is to contact MBUSA direct if you want the most up to the minute info:

Mercedes Benz U.S.A

One Mercedes Drive; P.O. Box 350

Montvale, New Jersey 07645

Tel: 201-573-0600

P.S. If you contact them and get any additional info ... let the rest of us know

Don't fool yourself... They are as clueless as all the others. The only difference is that they don't have to sell a car to stay in business.

This is true but they are a little less clueless than the others. Not much but a little bit.

RE: MBUSA Memo on 2006's

Manhattan is actually more clueless than other dealerships. Why? There is almost no incentive for the personnel to go the extra mile or inch for the customer. They will be in business because the mother ship underwrites them. Their arrogance / hubris is spectacular. I speak from experience. They were completely uninterested in my G order in '01 for an '02. They took my money and never called me with an order or anything. In addition, I had my ill-fated '02 for over four months from another dealer before they called me and asked if I wanted to come in to "discuss" options and that was the third sales person. They still had no dates for arrival. Please understand that I was a long standing customer (5 new MB's from them). They used to be very good. They now sucketh. I went in to the dealership on Park Avenue three months ago just around the time I got my G55K and asked about the availability of a G55K and they told me that they might be willing to search for one if the price were 10K over the MSRP. But you know the sales guy had more jewelry on then the Queen of England and he said it in such a nice way as he offered my wife a cup of capuccino that I for a minute almost did not tell him shove it. But then I looked at the pinky ring with the big diamond in it and regained my composure. He told me there would be no more G's in the US and that the GL would replace it. He said it with such authority and arrogance that again I almost believed him.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM MB MANHATTAN.

No naming names. But I would not deny your description. Keep your hand on your wallet when you walk in there.

RE: MBUSA Memo on 2006's

All the dealers are clueless. I was looking at the GL this weekend. The salesperson said MB will stop production at the 06 model year. He then promised me to know about the GL diesel.

Re: MBUSA Memo on 2006's

My MB dealership fully admits I know more about many of the cars in their line-up than they do, especially the G Wagen. As much, the Sales manager, my old sales guy, tells his salesman to listen when I speak...kinda funny huh? On more than one occaision they have asked me to embarass a new sales guy when it comes to the G.

The dealer nearest to me had been after me on a G last Fall; and told me that the G was coming to an end and that they had their last shipment. The sales person did not take kindly to the email I sent them in early November of last year telling them that the G would be extended and the MBUSA would continue to be selling them. They were even less happy when I told them to not contact me again until they could sell me a G320CDI.

Re: MBUSA Memo on 2006's

I called this morning to see if they had an update ... and was told by the very helpful support person that she had none, and in fact could not find the memo I mentioned in her computer.

My guess is, the longer it takes MBUSA to 'officially' announce the MY'06 ... the more likely they won't, and will just announce the MY'07 sooner.

P.S. spoke to MB-Manhattan last Friday and they told me they have not recieved any MY'06's yet, but do have a couple on order ... and the MY'07 Diesel will be a G320CDI 'special order' only ... but who knows

Year-to-date sales

Think of it this way...
They are selling so many G-Wagons, they cannot produce them fast enough.
When you visit the local dealerships, they are sold out. They're all sold out!

If you want one, you are going to have to order it and wait just like everyone else...

RE: MBUSA Memo on 2006's

It's about time ...

http://www.mbusa.com/models/main.do?modelCode=G500

I think it's funny how the first page of the G has the DVD Nav as a highlighted feature in the middle of the page ... but when you go into 'Interior' features, it is still CD-rom

http://www.mbusa.com/models/features...500&class=06_G

The only reason to pay a penny above Invoice, is it will be a collector's item ... since how many will actually be sold with the MY'07 a few months away, with it's new interior, better seats, DVD Nav, and smoother and better mpg 7-Speed tran???
