Bridgestone Dueler Revo's just installed

Hi everyone,

I just had a set of Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos installed on my 03 G500. They were 275/65-18 and slightly taller than stock. The car sits about 3/4" higher from the rough measurements I took before and after the installation.

Here are some photos with them on the car - I have included a photo of the stock Yoko next to the new tire for comparison.

Thanks Thai.

I plan to break them in when I go out to my observatory in teh desert this weekend. I might take a detour and drive to Anza Borego park while I'm in the area.

P.S. I've seen some of your posts on the FJ forums

Re: Bridgestone Dueler Revo's just installed

It looks like more and more manufacturers are making A/T tires for 18" rims

The Bridgestone Dueler Revo's are supposed to be one of the best out there.

Let us know how they feel!

HCompared to the Yokos, how noisy are they on the highway?

Re: Bridgestone Dueler Revo's just installed

I hate to be a stick in the mud because i like the revo line of tires (had 31" LT rated version on my pathfinder and they were quiet tires and good in snow) but the 18" offering in this tire (along with the 285/70r17 size on my truck) has a slim 11/32" of tread on them compared to 13/32 for all their other p-rated revos, and 15/32" -17/32" for all their Lt rated revos... pretty dissappointing to me.

p-rated is passenger rated... like cars and car based SUV's like the Toyota Highlander... LT is Light Truck rated and usually assumes more serious use... or as i see it that they will indeed be used as marketed rather than bought because of marketing.

I just looked at the tire weight... still only weigh 40lbs... which is nice and light, but be careful because at the same weight as the stock yoko's with an extra 1.5" height, the weight has probably in-part come out of the the sidewalls so these may be puncture prone.

Murphy's law - I bought my Toyo A/Ts after 400 posts discussing it and finally deciding they were the best option.  Now the tire companies came out with are several more options to spite me.

The Nitto Terra Grapplers and Toyo's are VERY GOOD!

I simply remember some reviews from one of the tire installers...

Re: Bridgestone Dueler Revo's just installed

Quick impressions of the Revo's so far. Steering feels a little quicker on pavement - it's still not a sports car.
Road noise at highway speeds is very good. I managed about 80 miles of 70mph cruising yesterday and they sounded no worse than the original Yokos. In fact they were a tad quieter from what I recall.

The Nitto's were a strong contender, but I did not know of a reputable retailer to order them from. No local shops seem to have the size(s) I want in stock either. I was reluctant to try thr BFG AT KO's since the minimum rim width was 8.00" and I didn't want to find out the hard way that they woulnd't work on my 7.5" wide rims - any opinions?

The only off roading I have done in them so far is a rough gravel road leading up to my observatory. Climbing up a few small berms, they felt more grippy. I will have more pavement and offroad milage after next week as I plan to drive to Utah(Moab area) from Socal. BTW, anyone planning to be there around May 8-12?

-Leon

I don't have the Bridgestone Dueler Revos on my G-500 because they weren't available when I replaced the stock tires but I do have them on my 4Runners and have well over 40,000 miles on one set. They really handle well and allow you to drive the car a lot closer to their limits. They held up pretty good from a wear standpoint as well. Theoretically, as the tread gets more shallow, the rubber compound is supposed to improve grip...Don't know whetehr theyb really do improve grip, but iIdon't sense any detectable lost of control over time...

Not listed on the General Tires website for the US. 255/60R18 coming in the Fall of 2006 and 255/55R18 only.

RE: Bridgestone Dueler Revo's just installed

that general grabber at2 is severe service rated in the 16" sizes. When i was looking at 16" options that was one of my top choices becuase it's severe service rated (snow flake) and a good $50 cheaper per tire than the BFG at/ko's... i think they were available to me for like $129 each at 265/75r16.

It's be nice if they offered that in a stock 18" size... but not yet according to dutch, plus i continue to have the same doubts/concerns about load rating (sidewall strength) and tread depth. Same issue as the guy with the toyota who had the revo's. I had the revos and liked them but they came with 25% more tread on the tires i had than these 18's.

Since when did they start making 265/60R18?

Now I have to decide if I want to stay with the 285 or switch to the 265???

Re: Bridgestone Dueler Revo's just installed

Not to highjack the thread but if you though 265/60/18 was tough, try 285/55/18 (G55). Try finding anything that has a M&S rating. There is a Hankook available in Canada only and then there is a Cooper Zeon. The Michelin Pilot LTX is available. I have put on the Coopers as the std Yoko's were not reassuring in anything but dry. Wet is much improved with the Cooper. Will need to wait for snow.

Re: Bridgestone Dueler Revo's just installed

marco, you have an easy solution. It's the 285/65r18's in the BFG at/ko. Granted they're bigger but you've certainly got the power and brakes to make them move how you want them too... same size as mine i just happen to be running the 17" equivalent... the BFG's, as far as i'm concerned are basically the only honest A/T tire with full tread... (M&S ratings are almost a laugh nas far as i'm concerned... it's the severe service rating that you appreciate, which the BFG's are). there are other MT options and HT options, but neither will suite your needs as well as far as i can tell... and neither MT's or HT's are generally severe service rated (snow flake approved) becuase they either don't have enough open tread to cut the slushy snow (HT), or not enough siping to grab the ice (MT). As long as you're not hard on the gas at full lock steering you should have no problem (no rubbing) with them. Lock to lock steering is fine in forward and reverse as long as you don't get on the gas. It'd be nice to see a g55 with a little more tire under those funky fender flares.

The Geneteral Tire website says 255/60R18 for Fall 2006. No 265/60R18 listed.

Although I am not going to question the BFG's... I simply LOVE the Nitto Terra Grapplers.

I am using them on my original "European" wheels with ET63. With all of the previous comments about bearing wear, I chose to stay with ET63. Even with my wheels tucked further under the wheel wells, I barely get any rubbing at all.
