RE: Whose is this? (OR)

It looks as if he has taken the body from the link below, modded it and attached it to a Tamiya TLT 1 Chassis.

Rather nicely done .

There are a whole series of photos of the buildup of the truck here:

http://www.orcrc.com/G.htm

It belongs to someone named Ryan on the Gwagen email list. I'll see if I can entice him over here.

RE: Whose is this? (OR)

Hi all!

This is Ryan, I'm the owner of the R/C G in the pics. R/C Crawling is getting pretty huge nation wide, and 'scale' trucks (those that look real) are very popular. I've always loved G's, and since I cant own a real one right now, the R/C version was the next best thing! The truck is based on a pretty common R/C crawler platform using TLT axles, Scale frame-rail chassis, stampede tranny, narrowed Geolandar tires and narrowed custom wheels. Lots of info on this kind of stuff over at (http://www.rccrawler.com) or our own club (http://www.orcrc.com).

My plan is to have this G, a Mog, a Humvee and perhaps a Touareg to let people drive on a trial course at this years Northwest Mogfest in Sheridan, Oregon. (http://www.northwestmogfest.com)

Feel free to ask questions about the G. I LOVE the current Military one, and feel this one represents the feeling pretty well!

Thanks,
Ryan

I'd be interested. Was thinking of getting a Kyosho but yours looks so much cooler.... I'd be happy to keep the normal body too if it's too much work. But the wheels and drive train are what make it. Of course as you have it would be ideal.

RE: Whose is this? (OR)

It would be possible to build up a few of them, but they would be expensive, since the components used are the 'serious' RC crawler goods made for real wheeling performance. Parts would be available at most hobby shops, unlike the Nikko toys. Ready to run, it'd probably cost at least $450 to build one up, and they'd have to sell for even more to make it worthwhile... Not to mention the only way to get the body would be to buy the toy!

Thanks!
ryan

You could, but the wheelbase would be off by quite a bit, and as soon as you rolled or crashed your revo, the body would probably get seriously damaged. Crawlers are slow, so hard bodies can survive.

You can get most of the stuff needed to build one online, including the toy-body donor. The drivetrain is a combination of many parts: Tamiya, traxxas, MFM racing, GPM, Duratrax, and a few more... I would build and sell one to the UK, but the cost might turn you off! Parts alone would be at least $450 or so...
