RE: Death Valley G-Adventures October 2008

Sure...I go about twice a year. Although last time was on a motorbike. March or April might be a good time to go. I'm flexible if its a weekend trip.

On a separate note...

I attached an old pic of Harald in my picture post and it seems to be missing now. Was it removed by a moderator??

Not me (and I'm not a moderator), but I might point out that high quality pictures do kill some of the anonymity of the web.  You just never know what nut is out there. </paranoia>

who removed me? That's not nice!
Pictures of all kinds of dogs pass but I am censored.
Plus, its with my old fools hat which I loved - and lost. Blew off while driving my TJ with bikini top on I-5.

Alan,

if I wanted to remain anonymous I would not use my full name, my e-mail address and a picture without sunglasses in my profile. I have nothing to hide.

Re: Death Valley G-Adventures October 2008

Not that I don't like the outdoors, but I'm curious if anyone ever does a luxury week in the G? Nice tents at night set up by others, chef's & food brought to each night's location, etc.?

Re: Death Valley G-Adventures October 2008

I know of 2 companies who have tried that concept of Beverly Hills camping - both went bankrupt.

You either like camping or not. You either like simple campfire food or not. You either like sleeping in a sleeping bag/tent or not.
With adding "luxury" to camping you are not convincing the ones who don't like it in the first place.

There are places for camping "nice" and for hotel "nice".

Actually, I think, one of the main attractions of camping, is roughing it. Nothing wrong with going to a 5 star resort right after.
I love Paris in a luxurious hotel where they blow sugar up my ••• - and I love remote camps in the desert with my "bed" right on the ground, no tent.

Re: Death Valley G-Adventures October 2008

I love them both too. Just thinking of an alternative. I guess two bankruptcies answers my question.

Sounds like a great time.  I want to see the pic of Harald that was removed.

Why can't we insert images?

  Chad

To my knowledge, no photos have been removed; and you certainly can insert images.

The webmaster has been working on the site. Maybe he stopped photo uploads so he could get the auto-resizer loaded.

Hi Harald,

I'm just a lurker and don't own a G currently. My current lease expires next Feb. and I'm hoping to pick up a G then. Fingers crossed....

So I'll be driving an LR3...sorry.

Hi Tom , it looks we have two things in common
1. I have been away from the forum for a while
2. I am currently G less and one of my cars is an FJ cruiser.

I have noticed you have an LR3 and an FJ Cruiser / why have you decided to go with the LR3 to DV for off-road trip and not in the FJ ?

Reason I am asking is because i am also currently G less but i have an FJ , and it is a good off-road performer .

I would take the G over the FJ in any day and anywhere if given the choice but never the LR( whatsoever kind of LR ) over the FJ .

ReG

RE: Death Valley G-Adventures October 2008

This would make a great vacation. Already cleared it with the Mrs. and she want's to go (promised a short stop in Vegas). Just have to work out the logistics of hauling the G from DC to Cali. Last time I was there, I was on FTX for two months at Ft. Irwin, compliments of Uncle Sam. It would be nice to see it under more "luxurious" circumstances. I've been unable to find a train with a car carrier that runs east/west. So, I'm thinking of renting an RV and towing the G. Anyone have a better suggestion?

Drive the G and stay at a string of "luxurious" bed & breakfasts.
