I have heard that you can depend on the G-wagen guys......but like the girl said last night : commitment or....... How do we want to deal with it?

At the last one of these there was no planning, we made a run to the store for the items we were short of and it worked well. We have good resources near by. We are widening the fire pit. We will get it together to have a barbecue of some kind available to cook on. I could arrange for a pony keg of beer but that might limit the selection. We will have wine here too. If there is anxiety about this we can be more formal about the food planning. In terms of activities I was thinking that we meet at the farm Saturday morning and have some time together. We could then make a run north to THV and Harald has offered to do some driving instruction. The site has some interesting spots for folks to drive their trucks on with very remarkable views. We return to the farm for an evening meal and a campfire. Sunday there is interest to do a run to the top of Mary's Peak not too far away and Mike Serpe is interested in linking some trails together perhaps from there. Some sort of loop out to the coast perhaps. Still have not firmed up the route. Again my hope is to provide a location for the community to meet face to face finaly and have some time together. We have some people coming from very far away and quite a few trucks are arriving. I'm certainly open to suggestion. A route out to the coast might be a lot of fun. What do you want to do? I am looking forward to meeting everyone personally and spending some time together. -Dai

Especially a day trip to the coast and the driving with Harald! As I said before I'll bring some beer. To be specific I'll have two cases, one Black Butte Porter and another Mirror Pond Pale Ale. Both are winners, literally. We may caravan with our RV for a bit more family camping comfort, if that's OK. Depending on the time Sunday we may need to make a hasty departure to get back to Bend not too late. Thanks again for hosting this!

Hey Eric, I believe Dai is referring to Temperance Hill Vineyard. You're correct about the Tillamook S.F. being good for off-roading, but it's at least an hour and a half drive time from Corvallis. Maybe a good place to organize a G-Treffen trail run sometime... Dai was also suggesting a trip over to the coast. That one strongly gets my vote! -Woody

clubgwagen.com Elite Veteran Date registered: Apr 2006 Location: gwagenpreserve.com Vehicle(s): 300GE Cabriolet Posts: 736 | Re: Northwest G Gathering After looking over maps of local loops and checking in with Dai, there are several longer options and loops that folks can check out in the OR Coastal range near the farm. However, we were psyched to hear about a short local loop......for Sunday morning. This loop up and over the highest peak local to Dai's farm is paved road to the top, incredible 360 degree lookout over the entire range, but then moderate offroad back down the backside, possibly even some snow!!, and another graded dirt road with a covered bridge to get back. Dai says the access is just down the road. Total route time is only 1 hour to 1.5 hours roundtrip back to the farm. It is completely optional. The route is easy, not risky. Idea is, for those up for it, to go in the early AM, on Sunday, perhaps 8am in order to be back to rejoin others, wives that might sleep in, kids that sleep in, or those just wanting to relax by breakfast time. I'll announce again when we are all up there, and we can pick the time most comfortable to those opting to go on this short loop Sunday AM. regards, Mike Serpe
