Re: Northwest G Gathering info:

Dai

I will be coming in on the 6th into Portland International. I was going to check out the area a bit, any suggestions on the way down from Portland? When will the gathering begin?

Looking forward to it.

Thanks
Mark

Re: Northwest G Gathering

There is interest in caravaning and carpooling from the various directions. There is a group coming down from Washington and one from the Bay Area of CA. I think these people are communicating with each other but posting ideas here will help with the connections.

Again people are welcome to come here on Friday.

If folks can make it here by around 10 AM on Saturday we leave by 11 or 12 to go up to the large vineyard I farm called Temperance Hill.

Harald has offered to do a driving class and I think we can find some locations on the vineyard that would be interesting for him to use for instruction. (If he is not in agony from the very long drive from La Paz.)

The final approach is: From Corvallis take Highway 20 West toward Newport, pass through Philomath (stay on 20) and about 5 miles from Philomath turn right on 223 the Kings Valley Highway, go one mile and turn right on Cardwell Hill Drive. We are the first right on that road, the big dog's name is Rico. His job is to bark.

There is lots of Camping space for those of you who want to do that and a shower in the cabin.

When I get a read on the weather I will post updates here, I have a great weather guru who is pretty accurate but it is a little early yet to know what is up, this has been a bizzare spring and very unstable patterns are still here.

I look forward to having you all here and meeting many of you finally!

Re: Northwest G Gathering

Weather: it looks like it will be fairly warm; low 70's for highs, lows in the upper 40's so chilly at night. There is a chance of showers but we might see dry weather. The problem is the jet stream is heading right over the PNW and dragging systems with it. I'll post again on Monday with a better picture.

Re: Northwest G Gathering (Seattle)

Krash et al. - I'll be heading down to the event from the Seattle area. Hoping to make it to the farm ~10:00AM Sat. May depart at about 5:00AM Sat or around 10:00PM Fri. Not really conducive to forming a caravan but if you're thinking something similar - I can adjust a bit. I'll try to pay attention to the multitude of posts/forums on this through Friday but give me a call or drop me a PM.

Looking forward to it!

Thanks maggot!

I would only add a few restaurants such as China Delight, Nearly Normal's and Bombs Away.
If there's a plan to eat out as a group, might be a good idea to distill rather than expand the list, though.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Re: Northwest G Gathering

Minh,

just drive up there......will you?

I hope I can bring all the sunshine up to Dai's place.......it was all blue sky and 98F in Red Bluff, CA while I was driving the Interstate 5......

Now it's time for a good night sleep here under the Shasta Mountain, so we can tackle the radar guns, maps, restaurants, gas stations, lap-top and the trusted GPS to make it in one piece to Dai' vineyard.

We having a late breakfast (11:00 AM on Friday) at the Black Bear Restaurant in Mount Shasta City .....If anybody want to join

Address of Black Bear Diner is 401 W Lake in Mt Shasta...north of Dunsmuir.

javascript:PopUp('http://maps.google.com/maps?q=401+W.+Lake+St.,+Mt.+Shasta,+CA').......Thanks Mike!

everybody was grinning like they won the lottery - very disturbing
was it the sunshine?
was it Dai's wine?
was it Karl's Bratwurst?
was it the company?

Awesome weekend!

My son Kai might have said it best, "Dad, thanks for bringing me along, that is a fun bunch of people!"

Jokes around the campfire Sunday night and the wine - Thanks again Dai, PK, Boone & Katie the "Oh my God Cake!"

Can't wait to do this again.

Here's a couple of my shots.

Great Geländewagen Treffen........so many G-wagens but no two looked alike......

" Thank you so very much" to Dai, PK and their family for having us at their wonderful place.

Thank you, to all the participants for driving up to the the Vineyard & Wagen event........it was a blast to meet you all - I have enjoyed every minute!

Going home is always a dreaded thing - I'll always tried to postpone it as long as I can, but after having the last lunch with good friends I drove this excellent machine the plus 975 Miles straight home in one setting - not even looking up while taking on fuel.

Here are now some of my pics from this 'dear to me' fantastic group of friends.

No, sorry Dutch. That's Chris & Carey's Dark green G500. The truck does look blue in the photo.

Very true! Now I can start working on the NEXT friend. Kent didn't require much convincing once he rode in yours, though!

Pretty soon we'll have to start a Bend G Club!
