Front Pads and Rotors

My Brake Pad Warning light and the parking brake comes on and off while try to brake.
So Question is What kind of Brake pads to buy and from where . I guess the cheapest out there are Mintex
also where to buy it from ?
Please help
Also do we change rotors at the same time of Changing Brake Pads and also do a Brake Flush ?
I had the truck for around 40K (75K on the Truck as of now)and dont remember doing anything for the front.
Thanks

RE: Front Pads and Rotors

There's Raybestos Premium, Rotex Gold and Wagner Quiet Stop. All, good pads. O'Reileys and Advance Auto should have them.

RE: Front Pads and Rotors

I've been very pleased with the Rotex Gold pads. I have them on both my G500 and my ML320CDI. They are quiet, very low dust and work VERY well.

To get them, I'd recommend Dave at:

www.buybrakes.com
1-800-853-3599 ext. 811#

Excellent service and good prices. Stay away from Brakeworld.com!!

RE: Front Pads and Rotors

Went to NTB for the Brake Pad Change. Said it will cost me 189.99 and brake flush 59.99. After speaking to the mechanic comes back and says we will have to change the ROTORS too(Withouth Checking my Car) says that is Standard procedure on the Mercedes.
Is that True ?

They always like spending YOUR money. If your rotors are not warped, scoured, then I'd just replace the pads, myself. It's a quick job. 1 1/2 hours for all 4 wheels, tops.

Did they offer to kiss you while they screwed you, and promise to still love you after they've finished? Ditto what cmitch said!

It is obviously not true that the rotors need replacing every time the pads are replaced, but my experience has been that the rotors wear to the minimum thickness at least by the time the second set of pads has worn down - both front and rear.

The new set of Brembo rotors I bought have drilled indents to show the minimum allowed thickness.

I would always do this job myself (although not the brake flush) because it is so easy and so enjoyable to do and saves me a lot of dough; I have the fixed caliper brakes and they are a pleasure to replace which is just as well as the back pads only last just over 20K miles and the fronts about 30K.
