1999 ML430 Frt Wiper motor replacement

I had a Front wiper motor fail and have removed it already. Is there a set up procedure to set the wipers linkage to the normal off position when installing a new motor. I have no idea where they were when it failed and also moved them while testing and removal.

That is some lousy feeling when you on the highway in heavy rain and hear POP and loose your wipers. Since removed, the motor still functions but someting let go in the gearing as any presuure causes the shaft to slip.although with nothing on it it still turns. Actually, it is a dangerous design......I can see loosing them if a motor fails, but not beacause of some fragile connecting part.

Appreciate any tips...............

You can email me directly at tnnrec@aol.com Thanks in advance

Before mounting the wipers on the splines, it would be advisable to 'motor' it on and off, once, with the engine running, to ensure they are in the stop position.
