phoenix44 Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | New Rubber I finally had the chance to get my Winter tires switched over to some new "summer" tires, Yokohama Avdan 285/50/18W. So far, not that much time with them, but they feel quite good, quiet and sticky. Has anyone have any thoughts on them? (avdan.jpg) Attachments ---------------- avdan.jpg (12KB - 1 downloads)

Marcelc Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: New Rubber I have new Continental CrossContact LX's on which I have done about 1,000 miles, they are quiet, corner well, comfortable, without being soft or spongy, and I am very pleased with them although the fuel consumption has gone down from 29mpg to 27mpg (UK gallons) perhaps due to a higher rolling resistance. I have not yet tried them in heavy rain. My previous tyres were Continental 4x4 Contact which had a wider tread, but softer walls, and were not too bad, however, I was determined to buy another tyre as the 4x4 Contact could not clear large amounts of water and was noisy above 70mph. Sorry, I haven't answered your question - I don't have experience of Yokohama tyres, but I thought this thread may be a good place to compare notes on tyres.

Noodles Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Re: New Rubber Yokohama makes good tires. The ones we had on the 300e that came with the car were very good all around tires(not used in winter). The tread pattern looked similar to the Avdan picture posted.

phoenix44 Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: New Rubber Hey C-Rod, The AVS does look great, but I also heard that they were kind of loud. The Avdan rubber is quiet, and today was the first time in the rain. I REALLY like them!! I have also had some more time with them in the dry, and they stick really, really well! I'll post some photos in the next day or so. P

phoenix44 Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: New Rubber For sure they are summer tires. I have some winter tires as well, bridstone LM-22, not as good as the pirelli scorpions, but, hey they came with the ML. Edited by phoenix44 5/13/2006 1:23 AM
