FS: 1999 463 G500 Cabriolet

Want to import my European G500 Cabrio for sale in the USA. It has to be FEDERALIZE in a few low cost items, but I have to contact an authorize shop by NHTSA (I have a list) that can do the paper work and the mod. The G has 96000 miles, has special Apple Green color, Designo leather upholstery, new tires and an updated maintenance. My everyday vehicle. This G500 Cabriolet, was the show car exposed by Steyer-Dainler-Puch in the Switzerland Gent Automobil Salon back in 1999. Have proof of this, even Guido Mathes send me a picture taken by a friend at the show. The G was sold by the factory as a PUCH only for export. If anybody is interest or have a good idea, please email and I'll get in touch. Price?? depends on who pays for the federalization Thank you

you cannot sell it in the USA nor Canada.
In Canada has to be 15 yr old and the USA 25 yrs old. you best bet is to replace the chassis with a 1995 and re-register it as 1995. (for sale in Canada)

A friend friend of mine did that with a Land Rover Defender and is perfectly legal. He even informed the Customs agent of this and the officer had no objection.

It can be sold in the US, if it is Federalized.

If your G Cabrio was a 1997 then I would be very interested! I'm in Canada so I can only import it if it's 15 years old. What is the build date, should be on the drivers door? How much do you want for it and do you have any pictures of the interior? The color is very unique.

Re: FS: 1999 463 G500 Cabriolet

Thank you Dutch, you DO know what you are saying. For the benefit of everybody the Mercedes Benz G Class was homologated to enter in the USA by the NHTSA under Docket Number NHTSA-2000-7139 (VCP-18) (ask Europa International what they went through). When I say small cost items means third stop (all ready have it), side rear view mirror sticker must say (objects are closer ..etc) side markers (about 20,00 ea) instrument panel speedometer in miles), a relay for the windows when the vehicle is in "off" situation and things like that. The headache is the paper work, the inspection and all that, so I'll wait. Thank you, fans. Well Caar, I have a 1993 Land Rover Defender 200TDi maybe I can send it to Canada !! have a good day !!

Homologation or not, it will still have to be imported through a Registered Importer; and that will cost some $$'s.
