| Someone Stole the MB Star from the tail gate
Had dinner at a restaurant this evening, and as typical practice I do a quick glance over the ML (yes, sigh, I still love her 7 years later) and I noticed the 3 pointed star chrome emblem was missing from the tail gate.
This is the 2nd time someone has stolen it from my ML in 7 years.
WHY DO PEOPLE DO THAT?
It's only a $15 part, but WHY? |

ouch, that's gotta hurt. Same happened to me a while back, except it was the hood star on my 560. I replaced it twice, and just the other day, I found it to be a little loose, and upon further inspection, it is broken. I have just ordered a new one from eBay. it sucks though. These are pretty cheap parts. If someone wants them, why don't they just go, and buy them.

They take them and put a chain through it so they have mad bling yo. But the hood ornaments are more likely targets. Shall we dig up the old discussions about wiring the battery to the ornaments? :shoot: :ohno: |

I wonder what they use to take it off with it seems stuck on fairly good, I guess you are lucky you dont have any paint damage from them using like a screw driver. Usually all I get stolen are my air caps and I am surprised my green air caps from my nitrofill tires haven't fallen victim yet. The fastest I have had caps stolen was 1 day, my dad was given some M/// logo caps as a gift and we put them on the car parked it for less than 30mins and we came back gone.. |

Both my former and current MLs have had evidence of some punk thief trying to remove the rear star. I think I am with AML and the battery idea! |

I remember seeing that in a Simpsons episode. Nelson has a bunch of car emblems, and he puts a Mercedes-Benz Star, and wears it as a chain, and everyone thinks hes cool. He also had a Hyundai one, I don't know ehy though.
that would be interesting to wire the battery to the hood star.

ML grille emblem would be to big for that tho maybe we should think about wiring the batter to the tailgate, and will disenggage when we disarm the alarm..
It's not just Mercedes emblem tho.. my friend has a civic, and someone stole her honda logo from the trunk, she got tired of replacing the emblem, and finally just replace it with a honda logo sticker.. just to cover the 2 holes left by the emblem Sorry for the emblem tho roadsession, i hope the paint is not damaged.. my ML has a 2 deep scratches on the tailgate while it's being parked  altho i never had my star emblem stolen

Thanks...
I swear I was so grumpy driving home - my wife was like "so...what?..."
I felt so 'naked'
I don't even want to drive it like this...
I will take the BMW and buy a new star the second the dealer's parts counter opens in the morning.
Am I too obsessed? |
