The Land Rover Sagga Goes on

So we finally get the Land Rover back, "fixed" and the warranty issue sorted out. So 3 days after we get it back the wife is driving to get her mom from hospital. She is going about 35 and comes up to a red light and NO FSCKING BRAKES !!! She slams into the back of another car. Needless to say it was "her fault" I called Land Rover and was told that because it was in an accadent that we had to pay to pay for the tow to the shop. I reminded them that they had JUST checked the brakes 3 days ago, their stupidity caused this and Monday they will hear from my Lawyer...
Turns out that in the event of even loosing your breaks it is still your fault.
Anyway other then being shook up and a bit sore she is fine, kids are fine. I am pissed. I will NEVER own a land rover again.
Looks like the new G for the wife is closer then I thought

RE: The Land Rover Sagga Goes on

the rr i use for years as my daily business car has now 150k+ miles on the clock and i never had break issues. but every 20k miles a full checkup of course. i think that's fair. frequent oil dips mark its way - but that's good old british tradition i guess.

RE: The Land Rover Sagga Goes on

Well I just heard back from the service department and it turns out that 3 out of 4 break calapers failed.. 75 % Failure !!!!!!!
Oh well it is their problem now, I mean I loved the thing but in Delaware if you have 3 MAJOR issues with a cat within a 6 month period you can claim the lemon law which we are doing now. Still under warranty and only 37K miles on it and it has had the head and main seal go, the trans and the stearing box went and not the breaks.
My wife said she WILL NOT get back into that piece of junk. I guess like any other make of car sometines there are bad ones in the lot, but add that up with the terrable service,, no thanks

More like 300% failure. Each one failed 100%.

RE: The Land Rover Sagga Goes on

Ouch!! Sorry to hear about your problems! I sure hope the lemon law doesn't let you down. There is no excuse for LR to avoid these types of problems. On a side note, I have a DI, and have had great success! Newer cars are going to have frequent problems until they get crap straightened out. That is why i prefer to stay with older cars. I can't wait until I find the right G for me!

Re: The Land Rover Sagga Goes on

Update from my lawyer.
He spent a lot of time talking to Land Rover and some others.
They offered to take the Disco back for what we paid,
Pay the insurance claim for the other damaged car,
Pay for any insurance raise due to the crash,
Pay any ticket costs
and $10,000 in damages to my wife and the kids for the "tramatic experience"
Luckly they did not say that it had to not be disclosed
So I think the deal is more then fair and I am glad that they kinda lived up to the mistake.
My wife has the selection down to a G or a VW tourag Diesel

Do NOT get Touareg...it's a reliability disaster, maybe even worst than your Disco!!

If you don't believe me, then check out the two biggest T-reg forums:

As you can see, almost every other post is a problem post!

Re: The Land Rover Sagga Goes on

Looks like I will tell her to pass on that idea after reading all that. I should just buy her a 70s VW Bug that would fix her haha
So anyone have any Non G suggestions, not that she does not want a G she just wants to have something to clutter her mind to make the decision tougher and when she buys the G blame me for not getting (Car X) if something goes south with the G..

Re: The Land Rover Sagga Goes on

doesn't 10k in "damages" for a bad experience sound a lot like an admission of guilt? i bet they'd be happy to pay that and not learn a lesson. it doesn't really seem like your broken car matters so much considering the potential loss.

Re: The Land Rover Sagga Goes on

So Land rover called to sweeten the deal. They offered to take back the Rover OR refund 50% and let us keep the rover and 4 more years on the warranty as well as the other offers. Well why the hell not that makes the Rover basicaly free with 4 more years of warranty. So we went to get it last night. I took the wife up in the G. Needless to say the dealrship emptied and was on my G like a swarm of bees. My wife was like Men wtf... She had to wait till they stopped googling the G to get her Rover. I was like a proud parent showing off a baby..
To have hard core Rover people go that nuts over the G was kinda really funny...

I think it was the fact that it was 26 years old and did not have parts hanging off it and it had a turning radius less the a battle ship, unlike the Disco

RE: The Land Rover Sagga Goes on

Maybe I missed something - you could have gotten rid of it but you kept it with 4 more years of incompetent service thrown in with a 50% refund? I would not have taken this deal. How about complete refund, payment for all increases in insurance and 25k? Then go get a nice late model G with a 25k discount. You could not pay me to get in to the truck that had this problem.

Good luck, though.

I second that, I own a LR, and know their reputation. It would be a great oppurtunity to get into a more reliable, and "bulletproof" vehicle..... WITH something that has a higher resale! Even your older G has a higher resale than a 2000 DII. Did you take that into account! Lower depreciation!
