Audi Q7

Any thoughts on the Q7? I am guessing that it is a solid performer, but I'm not crazy about the looks.

Re: Audi Q7

its an audi I went looking at A4's for my brother and left the place faster than the lexus dealer. Audi is just so expensive for what you get compared to BMW and Mercedes not to mention the bland interior that looked cheap for a $35 grand car. I guess in europe they are popular but in the US audi hasnt really taken off and just by looking at them I can tell why.

Really?  My wife just traded in her A6 and it was one of the best cars we’ve owned.  We feel like it had a lot to offer for the money, especially compared to MBZ and BMW.  Basically, we were able to get all the safety features, size and power comparable to the BMW 535 or MBZ E320 for the price of the BMW 330 or MBZ C320.  The A4 might not compare as favorably, but the A6 certainly did.  And it was a very reliable vehicle, only in the shop for three unscheduled visits to resolve minor problems.  As for the interior, I know it’s a lot of personal preference, but I like Audi’s better than BMW’s or the newer MBZ models (I like the older MBZ interiors better – i.e. with the window switches in the center console where they belong).

As for the Q7, I am guessing it’s based on the Touareg/Cayenne platform.  It will likely be a decent vehicle once the typical European new model bugs are worked out.  The lines from the side remind me of the R-class, but with a more SUV-like styling as opposed to the R’s minivan looks.

RE: Audi Q7

It does share the Touareg/Cayenne and a lot of its running gear.

My mom's A6 30 valver has been stellar and is nearing 65k miles. I had one of the S4s from
the early nineties and it was solid as a rock up to 140k miles when the turbo blew. I put
a bigger Garrett on it and drove to 160k and sold it to my nephew. He drove it to over 200k miles
before a fire ruined it. That car was sick, I did a few minor mods with some help from Ivor at TAP
in Florida and I was chewing up 911s and Vettes at open track days at both Road America and
Road Atlanta. If could afford one I would get a S8 in hearbeat.

I think the Q7 is going to be a good vehicle. I saw it at the Chicago auto show and it looks a
lot better in person than in pictures. The one I saw was silver and very easy to look at.

The Audi q7 is really nice, but the only thing that spoils it that it looks very large in Person, Larger than a Touareg or Cayenne, Its a dinasour.

Re: Audi Q7

If the interior is half as nice as the A6 or A8, then I'm impressed.

Re: Audi Q7

The interior is gorgeous IMHO but the car is HUGE in real life. Suprisingly it's not so tall so even a sub-six footer like me has to be awake to get in without dinging my head on the top door frame. Still like the packaging of our w163 more although I love Audi's. I also agree that Audi's are more bang for the buck than BMW's and Benzes although it's too bad all three have been having electrical gremlins as of late. And this car is really heavy which is suprising for Audi. Perhaps the Q5 will be more to my liking.

Basically a slightly taller station wagon but pretty sexy in that picture. But they really need to get it closer to 4000 pounds or hopefully have a FSI diesel available by then (in the USA I mean)
