My question is what fits? Correct me if I'm wrong(probably am) but I think the 460 steering wheels are just bolt off and bolt on replacement with no wiring? I think SOME have airbags and that would make it a little harder I would guess? I wonder if you could throw a 463 wheel on there and just not worry about plugging in all the controls? If yours doesn't have a airbag you MIGHT be able to find a cheap "BLOWN" 463 airbag one, reseal with no airbag inside and bolt it on? Would serve ZERO function BUT would look updated? Again, I am not sure and just trying to think of options with you

My question is what fits? This is for the 1985 300 GD, correct? That's a good start, at least you have the plastic around the column, etc that the pre-82 trucks didn't have. Next question, what are you trying to get in the new steering wheel? It'll hekp narrow down whether it will fit to know what your goal is for the change. There are a bunch of guys here who are MB car buffs in addition to being G owners so they can probably help with some ideas given a little more info. Good luck! -Dave G.

I believe they were pretty much plug and play back then and the C or E class wheels should be easier and cheaper to find

I had a Brabus steering wheel in my Brabus G36 and Brabus used the same they install in the other MB's. The problem I had is that the top of the Brabus steering wheel covered the highest part of the speedometer. It was difficult to see if you were driving 100 or 120km/h. You could use a 461 steering wheel. I have one in my 280ge (CIMG1231 [640x480].JPG) Attachments ---------------- CIMG1231 [640x480].JPG (62KB - 0 downloads)

Sure, I'm a tall guy, but my wife is complaining about 70 to 110. Newer style steering wheel will block some of your vision towards the instrument cluster.

The steering wheels of the 123 and 124 chassis Mercedes should be a direct fit. For starters the wheel is similar to what you would find in a 80s 300sd, nonairbag. I don't like the big school bus look to it. And I know if I get a smaller Dia. wheel it will be harder to steer. Alot of my G has already been updated and the steering wheel is an eyesore. Going by your suggestions I'll probably look for a mid 90s wheel off a C or S.
