I need to make the note...
If you have one of the newer G500's I don't recommend going that deep. Many of the major computers and electronics are found under the seats. Let's just say... you don't want to get these wet.
In the older versions, they are higher up, and sealed better... if you even have any electronics at all

As long as you are moving in the forward direction... it stays very well sealed.

Once you stop... it seems to find every crack and crevis to enter. Just keep moving...

Re: How Deep Have You Driven Your G-Wagon?

there are actually holes in the bottom of the door that let water exit when it gets past the seals on the outside of the window, so in essence they are currently designed to leak. In submerging the vehicle, as water bubbled into the doors from that hole, it would be up to the plastic skin between the door and trim to keep water from bypassing the seals. Somebody here had their window motors get flooded in a deep fording adventure and had to clean them out to get them working again. I don't recall if it made it's way into the cabin too.

Yup.... that was me.
And Yup... I had to dry out the carpets too. I also had to replace the CD-Changer under the driver's seat.
I had to remove the window motors and the garbage inside them. Once I cleaned and greased everything, it all worked again. No damage to any of the OEM stuff!

i think some of those people in the videos have more money than smarts

Also you dont want to back up in deep water. Probably not a problem on the USA G's as the muffler it up high and the water would have to flow up the exhaust pipe.

Re: How Deep Have You Driven Your G-Wagon?

I sunk mine in mud once up to the black rubber trim about mid door. Lucky for me we had a tractor there to tug it out. No water just a muddy bog. So what do you do when you sink and recover a G from 3 foot of mud ???
Try it again faster to see if you can go farther. The answer is maybe two or 3 ft per every 10 MPH you hit the mud at.
Also when taking to a car wash pray that they guy behind you in not on a Harley as the mud that remains after you leave is a real mess and really tends to piss off one of these people
