RE: 2007 MBUSA Official Model Announcement

The other question is ... why not upgrade the engine on the G500 to the G550 when they switch transmissions, like they did with the S550??? That would be all the power I need (in fact more hp than the MY'03-'04 G55) and no side exhaust pipe hanging down for off-roading

my guess (so you can probably ignore me) is that they can only fry so many fish at one time, and they figured the 7-speed to be better from a marketing/fuel efficiency perspective than keeping the 5 speed and putting in the 550.

If you want more HP, they figure that you are going to choose the G55K. The 7-speed transmission is also a lot easier to "certify" for off-road use than re-seal and re-engineer the oil pan & entire engine for off-road use.

Bi-Xenon

Anyone seen the bi-xenon lights? Perhaps a part number? I doubt that they are using the ugly ORC setup with two beady little eyes on each side.

Alan, Not only haven't we seen the lights we haven't seen the car there being fitted to. The factory bi-xenon lights are expected on the MY07 G. However, I'm confident they will use the single headlight design.
