NAV CD ROM...Interesting Facts

Hey all,

Did you know that MB changed the NAVI unit in 2005?? I just called NAVUPDATE and was told that in 2005 G's NAVI CD ROM switched from Bosch to Navtech. So, from 2002-2004, NAVI units can only read Bosch's CD ROMs...in 2005, the NAVI can only read NAVTECH's CD ROM. Bosch apparently still makes updates...last one being November 2005. NAVTECH CD ROMs apparently cannot be used on the older units (2002-2004). In addition, apparently, Simiens (sp?) also makes CD ROMS for early NAVI units...but i am not sure which years.

Weird.

RE: NAV CD ROM...Interesting Facts

This is strange, because I updated the disc that came with my 2003 in earley 2005. Both sets were Navtec. The 2005 disc worked fine in both my 2003 and 2005 G's. Maybe the change over to Navtec happened earlier? Either way, the 2005 update is a huge improvement over the original disc's. A single DVD is really the only way to go though.

RE: NAV CD ROM...Interesting Facts

My 2003 was also Navtech and I too use the updates from Navtech.

When I ordered my updates direct from Navtech, they were backordered for longer than they expected. At that time Navtech sent me a gift certificate- I think it was $75 or $100. Nice company to deal with.

That's strange...NAVUPDATE would not let me order any CDROMS...they said that i have to go thru my dealer because they don't handle Bosch's stuff.

I definitely ordered it direct for them.
