| Scraped front bumper again....
Since owning our SLK350 w/AMG bumper from Nov 2004 I have removed the bumper twice to have it repainted. The first two times the bumper was damaged when my wife scraped it on driveway entrances. It's a good thing I handled the repairs calmly without overreacting. Today *I* scraped the bumper leaving a restaurant parking lot. I am now resigned to having the bumper repainted once every year. In the mean time I smeared some touch up paint on the "white" scratch marks. |

I scrapped the bumper on my SLK55 twice, and its not obvious only if you look under the bumper, I wont paint it because it will get scrapped again! |

fgwinn, if it's not visible w/o bending down to see it, I would not bother b/c it will happen again and again. When I first picked up my SLK at the dealer they scratched the front bumper while loading, I didn't do anything about it b/c I thought there will be more scratches coming but I have yet to scratch it myself. My SLK is 1/4" lower than factory b/c of the Brabus lowering springs. |

I'm in the same camp as you. Why repaint it when you just know its gonna get done again.......just leave until you are gonna get rid. |

Who's worried ???
The SLK owners such as me, When you paint your front bumper again it will be scratched so there is no point of painting it. |

My bumper has some scrapes on the bottom when I drove a bit too close to an elevated sidewalk thing when parking my car head on...
But it's not very noticeable unless you look right at it. Even less so due to the vehicle being Iridum Silver.
However, after almost two years of driving, the stone chips on part of the bumper are beginning to come up in number, so I'll probably be repainting it another year from now. Maybe... I'll see if I can be bothered. It's not that bad really, but being a maniak to these little details makes it hard to stomach scratch marks and stone chip holes |

I've just seen a car that solves the perennial problem of scraping the front spoiler. My friend, after owning (seriatim, not contemporaneously!) fifteen Ferraris, just bought his first Lamborghini. It is a pearl yellow 2006 Gallardo Spyder, and when he backs down his steep driveway, the front end raises itself 5 inches. That's a feature that should be standard on all low-slung sportscars.
