RE: Whats up guys???

Welcome! ...   Now get to the tranny stuff!  ....oh and welcome to the "transmission victim" club!  ... expecting detailed pics , info  (at least as much as mine)

PS: Let us know if you have the  mechanical "park push lock" in yours!.  ...  If you are going for a second hand (junkyard) Transmission, don't take anything older than a MY2004!

:blahblah:

PS: Feels like home doesn't it?

Re: Whats up guys???

Thanks for the welcome guys! There's a ton of you over here... LOL

Looks like I came really late, you all have hunderds of posts already. LOL. You all are postwhores!!!

As for the tranny Im picking up a used 99 tranny and TQ converter with 50K Miles. Unfortuanately thats all i can afford for now. There are no 04+ ones within my budget. The one I found is selling for $1712.00 Out The Door. Anyways, Ill keep you updated on my progress, Ill start with the swap on Tuesday next week in my garage with just a set of Rhino Ramps. LOL. Shoud prove to be quite a challenge, but after it's all done Ill be quite happy.

Take care over the holiday guys!!

Re: Whats up guys???

Can I suggest 2 real easy updates before you drop it in  ...

Take off the pan...

1. Magnet

2. Oil overflow pipe (the new white one)

3. new filter (just get pushed on - no screws or clips)

---------------------

I'm sure we (the us members) can find an exchange for that price!.....  Brand new exchange ones (incl. converter) cost 1600 to 2000 Euro here ... So I assume around that in $US over there ....

I think ttaleric found a very cheap  place ... otherwise wolfgang might have a few suggestions .....

RE: Whats up guys???

Forget about the oil pan overflow .... It's for the 722.9 transmission (We all have 722.6xx ) , and I'm not sure if it's available for our transmissions and its used to check the level of the fluid instead of the dispstick!

I posted in the WIS section a list of all the modifications that I could find that were made for the 722.6 transmission. These were done as a result of multiple failures, and the analysis showed that improvements in these areas would prolong (not prevent) life of the transmission.

Al, Nothing else I could see here that you could do without starting to take the transmission or ECU apart.

Definately change that filter!
