Thanks again Peter... I sure hope I dont run into many problems. This is going to be quite interesting to tackle. If I run into any problems Ill post them up in another thread. I pick up the used tranny on Tuesday so I dont expect to start till that evening. I have such limited time so It will probably take me a few days to get it all done.

No big deal .... essentially you are removing a middle piece .... the engine is at one end, and the transfer case at the other .....

 

Initially you start with removing the noise encapsulation covers, then remove the cross bar, exhaust bracket. Then let out the fluid. Next the filler pipe, oil cooler lines, electrical connectors ..... and now your ready to remove the damm thing!

First remove the propeller shafts, then transfer case (supporting the transmission), and last of all the engine side (first the torque converter to gear ring, then the transmission housing)

 

... Hows that for a super quick summary?....

heh,heh .... If you had a chance to look at the WIS instructions you'll find my summary pretty detailed compared!

 

I have a little update on the parts list for you.

Parts List:

Oil Filler pipe Seal, A 022 997 22 48

Magnet, A 169 371 00 03

Filter, A 140 277 00 95

3 plastic covers : 

   2x under the transmission where the converter is located  Diagram No. 50 (gasket converter housing), A 163 271 00 80

   1x  for the view port where the converter gets bolted on to the engine (Gear ring),  A 102 014 00 33  (not sure if there is a "A" in front)

21x noise encapsulation plastic rivets (the clips/screws that hold the noise encapsulation covers on), A 163 990 02 92

Thanks again Peter! I really appreciate all the help... I pick up the tranny tommorow and I should begin diss-assembling the truck tommorow evening or wed sometime. I probably wont be done till sometime during the weekend since I have so many other things going on at the same time. Ill keep you guys posted and Ill take many many pictures and post them in a new thread that I will open tommorow. I hope everything goes smoothly. Wish me luck!!

I take the tranny then it fits your 320 ? ......  722.662

GOOD LUCK MAN !

PS: Maybe short videos of each step would be better (MP4 format)  

 

Make sure you take pics of that ramp, and you on your back underneath it!!!!!

Only early 99s up to October 19, 1998 production date.

Yup... I picked up the tranny a few hours ago. Check out the new thread I opened. I posted pics of the tranny and part number etc.
