I've had both Hella and Cibie. The Bosch Euro Spec H4 lamps with city light are far superior. Wow. Good to know. Did you get these from Daniel Stern? Daniel Stern never offered me these lamps at the time I ordered...

Posts: 788 | RE: My Personal Impressions DUTCH - 10/2/2012 9:49 AM Just did 4,100 miles with the Speaker LED's in my G-Class, over half of it at night. Lights were aimed with an Optical Beam Setter at my local Porsche dealer. Impressions: 1.) Low beams seem to be somewhat better than the H4 Bosch city light lamps I had before. 2.) High beams are too much of a pencil spot. They do not spread enough at distance. They do reach out quite far, but it is way too narrow. Overall Impression: Relatively decent lights, but definitely not worth the price. Ymmv. danke. i was hesitant at buy-in price. the point of a headlamp is first and foremost light. other considerations like reduced load are secondary, and in cases where the replacements don't at least match the OEM, nonexistent. i'll wait to see how the next generation performs, as there is no doubt there will be one. The U.S. military has been doing all it can to reduce electrical load on vehicle charging systems because of all of the other gear that needs to run simultaneously. Not to mention cooling systems, etc...for use in desert climates. That is why the Truck-Lite LEDs are now in heavy use, along with survivability of some of the LED/SMD boards inside the lamp even if damaged by a bullet, shrapnel, etc...They have redundancy that traditional, halogen lamps do not have.

I've been advised by an unimpeachable source that there are several new 7" LED headlights in the works; and one of them is supposed to be "Ausgezeichnet!!".

I would like to buy them to try them out as well. I am still happy with the Speaker LED headlights. The halogen Hella lamps on the G55 do "penetrate" longer distances better at night. The lateral dispersion is not as good. At least in my experience. I did not align Speaker LED headlights with a headlight alignment machine like you did. I parked 25 feet away from a wall and "eyeballed it" at night.

I am considering the JW Speaker upgrade and would ideally like to find some of the glass lens models as I believe some of you guys have. Seems like the evolution is more popular online?

There are no more glass lens JW Speaker LED headlights. They are all now made of polycarbonate.

And realize that there are new models in the market since this blog was posted. I was advised by a leading automotive lighting authority that a new LED headlight was in the works which is superior to anything on the market. I'll check with him to see if there is any progress in that direction. That being said, the Speaker lights are considered to be superior to anything else currently on the market. They are a definite improvement over standard headlights, although I'm not sure the improvement is commensurate with the cost. Yes, they do require headlight buckets for installation on the G.

Here is his response: They're not yet on the market. Still in development. The latest prototypes I've seen make me smile BIG. Latest 7" round headlamp on the market is this one: http://www.pmlights.com/products.cfm?cId=1&fId=58&pId=3748 I haven't got my samples yet to evaluate; in theory it should be rather good, but it definitely produces an American beam pattern, not European for those who (improperly, IMO) adjudge on that point alone.

I stand by my original observation/opinion that on low beam they are better than the lights used by the Federalizers, but not worth their price; and I do not like the high beam pattern. I can't compare them to the lights in the newer G's.
