| HELP AND ADVICE ON 603 TURBO DIESEL ENGINE
Hi to all,my brother is about to convert his 230 ge into a turbo diesel.He has picked up a turbo diesel engine out of i think a w126 350 t/d.Will that be a good option ,what sort of performance will be available and what are the ups and downs if he manages to fit this to his 4 speed manual G?Ihave heard a few bad reports on that engine(very un-mercedes!)Any advice or mods recomended,many thanks |

It could be that no one has direct experience with this specific conversion. Also, less than 24 hrs on a holiday weekend in the US is not too long to wait. Give it a few days.

As far as I have heard the only good 603's (I'm presuming the 3.5L version) are the ones that the factory rebuilt. This particular engine was a real black eye for MB. The fact that the engine isn't driving the happy owner of early 90's S350 around town would worry me. It was probably removed for cause.
As to the conversion, I've got no idea if it can fit to the transmission you desire. If MB sold the combination it can't be hard. Otherwise it is likely near impossible.
The factory rebuilt 3.5L 603's are supposed to be pretty good. |

Hi Dutch,lets wait and see for replies from fellow members i have read good and bad feed backs on this engine .I think the engine is 1995 model which is good news and my brother tells me he has sourced an intercooler from a ford transit van which is a great bonus so i hear. |
