| Car has a tic; ie, won't stop blinking
When I was running errands today (seeing 2 new SLK's on the
road), my left turn signal would not stop blinking. It began when
I started the car and continued despite my messing with the
turn signal, turning on/off the engine, trying different key positions.
In order to not confuse other drivers, I ended up driving with the
hazards on. The left blinker would temporarily stop when activating
the right turn signal, only to start again after the turn was completed
and the right signal turned off. I had this happen about a year ago
and it spontaneously stopped after several start ups. Has anyone
else experienced this problem? Any solutions other than going back
to the dealer (who has had my car for probably 6 of the 60 or so
weeks I've owned the car) |

Try pulling the rely/fuse for the turn signals. Might even consider replacing it. |

Thanks for the advice. MB agreed to come to my house
and exchange cars so we'll see what the diagnosis is. At
least I'm getting to sample different models with the many
loaners I've required; this time a nice driving E350. |

Considering how much trouble you've had, they should give you a nice riding SL as a loaner. |

My sentiments exactly: new turn signal switch, replaced AC blower, replaced ENGINE, replaced
passenger side speaker, repair dent that happened at dealership, two oil consumption tests,
replaced passenger side seat control, check engine light times 2 or 3, glove compartment lid
remains locked (still a problem), haggling and countless arguments. |

Anymore major problems and you should consider a lemon law switch for a new car.
This is just getting ridiculous.
My SLK350 had a manual tranny failure, Vario roof issues and other small details and I immediately got agressive witht them to replace my car. It didn't hurt that the car had been with them for 30 days already (the minimum in NJ for Lemon law is 21).
Good luck with the dealer. |

In Illinois, I believe 30 days are required; seems
an awfully high (or low) standard to set. |
